CHAPTER IV FINDINGS AND DISCUSSION
B. Discussion
teaching, prespective teachers find opportunities to develop skills in attracting students' attention, asking questions, using and managing time effectively.
Based on the findings, it shown that students‟ perception of the teaching practice in microteaching by the English education study program through some questions result was categorized had a positive perception. There were below some research that supported the result of this research:
The Microteaching Experiences The Students‟ perspective education (J.B Kupper, 2001) it was conclude that microteaching component is an effective training tool in teacher education program.
A Study on Microteaching as Perceived by UTM TESL Undergraduates. University Teknologi Malaysia (Zarina.2010). the students perceived microteaching as important and they possessed positive attitude towards their microteaching course. Therefore, microteaching can be considered as an important subject to prepare these students for their teaching practice. By going through a certain period of microteaching session, students will be able to learn how to plan a lesson properly, deliver their lesson more affectively and able to attract the students; attention in class.
Based on some research, the researcher was to conclude their study.
Microteaching is an affective way to study teacher education program, to prepare students teaching skill, also to make students able to be a good
teacher, and students generally agreed that microteaching has positive attitudes to improve their teaching skill.
The second, is that students can be happy in teaching practice. Based on the findings, it reveals that the way of the lecturer teach allows students to be happy to follow the practice of microteaching. When they feel happy following the practice of microteaching, it can be categorized as a perception of acceptance. This is related to Robbins (2003) stated that to know how the process of gathering information through human perceptions is through indicator of perception where is about acceptance of students.
Acceptance means students feel agree about the teaching practice of microteaching used by the campus because they feel happy to follow the practice of teaching microteaching if the lecturer teaches well, and can interaction with friends so they feel happy.
The students also feel happy to follow the practice of micro teaching because it can help increase knowledge. In line with According to Remesh and Memorial (2013), Microteaching is a teachers‟ exercise to learn of teaching skills and help to get knowledge in teaching process. This will help them find it easier to follow the teaching process at school.
The third perception of students about the benefits of teaching practice in microteaching is that they can be more enthusiastic/ spirit. It was also identified from students' perceptions of being an enthusiastic that would help get their interest in the teaching process and to keep students excited
and motivated in following the practice of teaching microteaching when they were given the opportunity to display what they had.
Based on the students‟ question, the researcher found that the students gave positive perception of the microteaching. Those perceptions were students being enthusiastic/spirit in learning Microteaching because they have the opportunity to practice teaching and are able to develop basic teaching skills before going to school, and the students becomes better prepared and can assess the flaws in him that relate to his teaching competences and developed the ability to teach them.
Teaching practice in microteaching is useful to stimulate students' interest to follow the teaching process at school. The students become more enthusiastic and confident to complete the activities that should become an educator. This is related to (Ilhan, 2009) Microteaching allows prospective teacher to try and improve certain teaching skills, such as material utilization in lesson and behaviours in using voice, tone, and mimics in a controlled way in a laboratory environment.
The fourth student's perception of the benefits of teaching practice in microteaching it can be develop their teaching competencies. Based on the findings it revealed that the way the teaching practice in microteaching allowing students‟ to improve their teaching competencies. When they feel teaching competency increase, it can be categorized as evaluation perception to follow the practice teaching. It related to the Robbins (2003) stated that to know how the process of gathering information through human perceptions
is through indicator of perception where is about evaluation of students, evaluation mean they feeling agreed about used with teaching practice in microteaching because they feel their teaching competency increase
Based on the students‟ questions, the researchers found that the practice teaching in microteaching gave positive perceptions to students where they stated that microteaching helps them in developing their teaching competencies and know where they wrong in teaching so as not to repeat it and they stated that microteaching can help in developing awareness of teaching competencies, in microteaching we learn how to teach well with various preparations that have been made before carrying out the teaching process in microteaching so that students can develop their teaching competencies, they also thought that in microteaching they can know ability to teach and of course it also makes they know his needs later when teaching at school so that it can be said that microteaching can help him develop his teaching competencies. In the line with Kupper (2001) state in their research that the main objective of this program is to provide students teachers with the opportunity to explore the field of teaching, gain knowledge and skills which will increase the effectiveness as future education. In line with this theory, in the discovery that students are more able to develop their teaching competencies. microteaching is that we have the opportunity to show our ability to teach and if we have deficiencies will be corrected.
By implementing the practice of teaching microteaching, students can develop teaching competencies because students to know how far their
abilities are in teaching so that if they still have shortcomings or students' needs will be improved.
The fifth student's perception of the benefits of microteaching teaching practice is that students can manage time and manage class. It related to the Robbins (2003) stated that to know how the process of gathering information through human perceptions is through indicator of perception where is about evaluation of students, evaluation mean they feeling agreed about used with teaching practice in microteaching because they feel can manage time and manage class.
Based on the students‟ questions, the researchers found that most students gave positive perceptions about teaching practice microteaching it can help them manage time and manage classrooms, they said that microteaching taught them several strategies while teaching and how to create a learning environment that is fun or not boring. They stated that by following practice teaching in microteaching they could manage their classes well because lecturer taught them strategies to organize the class to be successful, students must have proper methods and good class mastery starting from luring students to ask and respond well to question students‟
and teaching practice in microteaching was of little help in organize class because he felt the time being spent was very short.
Meanwhile, there were also students who gave negative perceptions about teaching practice in microteaching which could not help in manage time and manage class. Because the teaching practice of microteaching had
a short time / so they thought they could not manage the class well. They have not gotten what they need.
The sixth students‟ perception about the benefits of teaching practice in microteaching, they are ready to carry out teaching practices in schools. It related to the Robbins (2003) stated that to know how the process of gathering information through human perceptions is through indicator of perception where is about evaluation of students, evaluation mean they feeling agreed about used with teaching practice in microteaching because they feel ready to teaching practice in school.
Based on the students‟ questions, the researcher found that teaching practice in microteaching can gave positive perception to students where they stated that they were being more ready for practice teaching a school.
They stated that are better prepared to teach at school because they have been given real learning experiences and a number of basic skills so they feel more ready to practice teaching at school and they feeling less nervous when teaching school because at a time teaching practice they can develop teaching skills so they already know what preparation they have to prepare for and they have learned how to deal with students in a different attitude and acceptance of lessons.
According Al- Methan (2006, p. 2) stated that microteaching is an organized teaching practice that has been proven by many educators to be a quick, efficient, and fun way to help student teachers get off to a head start during student teaching practice. In line with this theory, in the research
findings that students in their teaching practice in microteaching are taught how to teach quickly and efficiently, so that students are ready to conduct teaching and learning processes in school.
The seventh students‟ perception about the benefits of teaching practice in microteaching students‟ can use the media to be able to increase students' learning interest in learning. Uses such as power points, videos etc. It can also help them in carrying out teaching practices so that they are easier to explain the material.
Based on the students‟ questions, the researcher found that teaching practice in microteaching can gave positive perception to students where they stated that they used learning media, It was found from S7 stated they using the learning media makes it easy to explain materials like use of video or power point, according to the material they will teach, S14 and S15 stated that they use the learning media to simplify it so it‟s easier to explain and to make the situation more interesting so that they‟re more eager to give lessons, students‟ become more interactive to follow the lesson it and S21 stated that they used learning media that he has created for himself according to the material that they will teach.
2. Students’ perception of Lesson Plan design in microteaching practice The first students' perceptions about the benefits of the lesson plan they can understand what the learning implementation lesson plan is according to Robbins (2003) stated that to know how the process of gathering information through human perceptions is through indicator of perception
where is about understanding of students. In line with this theory, the research findings show that students understand what are the lesson plan.
The lesson plan is as a references to students doing practice activities in teaching skill.
By using the Lesson plan students are more focused in delivering the material they will know what are the material it will be given every meeting because by Lesson plan the learning is more structured, and students feel that the Lesson plan is a guide to teach in delivering the material.
Based on the findings, it shown that students‟ understanding about of the lesson plan, some questions result was categorized had a positive perception. There were below some research that supported the result of this research: Lesson Plan becomes a guideline for lecturers and students in the course of one stage of learning, one meeting or more, as a director to achieve an expected final ability. Philip Combs (Kurniawati, 2009: 66) states that the implementation planning of learning is a determination that contains components of learning systematically. Systematic analysis is a process of educational development that will achieve the goals of education so that it is more effective and efficient arranged logically, rationally, in accordance with the needs of students, schools, and regions (community).
Based on some research, the researcher was to conclude their study.
Lesson plan is a guideline for students or prospective teachers to make a learning, in one or more meetings, lesson plan can help students or prospective teachers to achieve learning objectives so that it is more
effective, and students generally agreed that lesson plan has positive attitudes to improve their teaching skill.
The second student's perception of students can be more focused in providing material because they make Lesson plan before carrying out teaching practices. The researcher found that the students gave positive perceptions by using lesson plan, students were more ready to teach, more focused in giving the material because it was structured. The used for one or more meetings so that learning takes place in an interactive, inspiring, and fun way. And besides making students more focused in providing material, it can also encourage students to be able to design, implement and assess learning that reinforces the character of nationalism, independence and integrity.
Based on the students‟ questions, the researcher found that lesson plan can gave positive perception to students where they stated lesson plan making they focused on providing material. It was found from S1,S2 stated that in making students‟ lesson plan is more structured in delivering materials because planning is going to make learning systematic and organized and students‟ can utilize as much time as possible to achieve the learning purposes. As well as the lesson plans that have been made make students more focused on delivering materials.
3. Students’ perception of lecturer feedback
The first student's perception of them can understand feedback. Robbins (2003) stated that to know how the process of gathering information through
human perceptions is through indicator of perception where is about acceptance of students. In line with this theory, in the research findings that students understand what feedback is. Feedback is a response given by a person to what we have shown, feedback can be either a positive or negative response. By using feedback, students better understand what are the weaknesses in delivering material and what are the strengths. It was found from S9,S26 stated that the feedback given by the lecturer, be it positive response or a negative response so they know what they lack in teaching and what they‟re capable of in teaching, through feedback students‟ can also know the extent of the material they have been taught can master and they may also correct their ability.
Based on the findings, it shown that students‟ understanding about feedback, some questions result was categorized had a positive perception.
There were below some research that supported the result of this research:
Berewot (2001:17), presents that feedback is the closing of a „loop‟ in the learning process which serves to fix the learning result and make it permanently available.
It mean that as students‟ already accomplish their learning, they need correction, criticism, or even appreciation from any other source to assess their learning result. More to the point. Kauchack and Eggen (1998) define that feedback is any information about current behavior that can be used to improve the future performance of the students.
Based on some research, the researcher was to conclude their study.
Feedback is a learning process that serves to improve the learning outcomes delivered by lecturers. In order to find out the strengths and weaknesses in teaching, in order to correct mistakes and be able to improve teaching skills.
and students generally agreed that feedback has positive attitudes to improve their teaching skill.
The second students' perceptions about students can find out their weaknesses and strengths. students must know their weaknesses and strengths so they can increase their strengths and improve their weaknesses.
according to Robbins (2003) that to know how the process of gathering information through human perceptions is through indicator of perception, the indicator that he meant the students‟ understanding. understanding mean they feeling agreed about used feedback because they feel know their weakness and strengths after teaching.
Based on the students‟ questions, the researcher found that feedback can gave positive perception to students where they stated feedback making to know their weaknesses and strengths. They stated feedback can help them identify their weakness and strengths in teaching so the students‟ can increase their strengths and no repeating the mistakes of teaching a real class and they stated feedback can help them improve their teaching quality because feedback is based on learning facts on a basic teaching skill that is being trained.
According Rink(1999) stated “feedback often serves as motivational function”, feedback serve three function: 1). Informing, 2). Reinforcing, and 3). Motivating. In the line with theory, in addition to students can know weaknesses and strengths, with feedback they may also motivating or reinforcing
The third student's perception of feedback can help in developing students' teaching skills, It related to the Robbins (2003) stated that to know how the process of gathering information through human perceptions is through indicator of perception where is about evaluation of students, evaluation mean they feeling agreed about feedback can developing students‟ teaching skill.
The researcher found that feedback can gave positive perception to students where they stated feedback can develop teaching skills because with feedback can encourage students to continue practicing and help students to assess their appearance. They stated in the practice of teaching feedback is crucial because they can improve their ability to teach because given suggestion so that nothing else goes wrong and can add more knowledge to good teaching.
According Adang Suherman(1998:124) Feedback is a teacher observes an individual students and assesses how students do activities as well as what to do to improve the students‟ ability. In line with this theory, in the research findings with feedback students can also motivate them to improve their teaching skills.

This chapter presented the conclusion and suggestions of this research. The conclusion were formulated from research questions, while suggestions provided some ideas addressed to the students
A. Conclusion
Based on the findings of the research, the researcher would make conclusion by showing the result of the questionnaire to students.
1. According to the students' “questionnaire”, most of the students gave positive perceptions of the microteaching practice in the teaching and learning process, they were being happy, being more excited / enthusiastic in carrying out learning, they understood microteaching better, they could develop teaching competencies, they could manage time and manage class well, they are better prepared to follow the teaching practice at school,
2. According to the students' “questionnaire”, all of the students gave positive perceptions of the learning implementation plan students better understand the importance of making lesson plans, they can be more focused in providing material.
3. According to the students' “questionnaire”, all of the students gave positive perceptions of the feedback they can find out their weaknesses
and strengths in teaching so as to assist them in developing their teaching competencies
B. Suggestion
From the findings presented earlier in chapter four, there are some suggestions that can be taken as a consideration for the students:
In microteaching practice, it is recommended that students utilize the process of microteaching practice as well as possible and make a positive contribution, so that they get effective learning. They also need to be aware of their own needs and be more serious in following the practice of microteaching. To be a good teacher candidate students must start trying to learn more and study hard. on the other hand, students also need to pay attention to the lecturer when explaining, so they can be easy understand the material.
