chapter heldtheirfourthannual beddingplant saleintheschool green- houseand raised$10,000!Studentsbeganpreparingforthe sale inJanuary byschedulingthe planting
datesof seeds sothematerial wouldbe readyontime.Throughoutthespring students
sowed
seeds, transplanted, watered,fertilizedandprovided general care for the plants. Approximately 40,000plantsweregrown
including geraniums,petunias, impatients, marigolds,wax
begonias, salvia, celosia,periwinkle,moss
roseandothercommon
annuals.As
thedate for thesalegrewcloser, the students advertisedbydistributing flyersand hangingsigns. Withthe cooperation oftheag-mechanicsandart classes,signs weremade
toidentify plantsinthegreenhouse.On
theday of thesale,some
studentstookpartby assistingthecustomersinselectingtheir plantswhile othermembers
collected themoney.The
beddingplant sale raisedcloseto $10,000andtheproceeds were depositedintheFFA
