chapter heldtheirfourthannual beddingplant saleintheschool green- houseand raised$10,000!

Studentsbeganpreparingforthe sale inJanuary byschedulingthe planting

datesof seeds sothematerial wouldbe readyontime.Throughoutthespring students

sowed

seeds, transplanted, watered,fertilizedandprovided general care for the plants. Approximately 40,000plantswere

grown

including geraniums,petunias, impatients, marigolds,

wax

begonias, salvia, celosia,periwinkle,

moss

roseandother

common

annuals.

As

thedate for thesalegrewcloser, the students advertisedbydistributing flyersand hangingsigns. Withthe cooperation oftheag-mechanicsandart classes,signs were

made

toidentify plantsinthegreenhouse.

On

theday of thesale,

some

studentstookpartby assistingthecustomersinselectingtheir plantswhile other

members

collected themoney.

The

beddingplant sale raisedcloseto $10,000andtheproceeds were depositedinthe

FFA

treasury. In addition, thissaleservedasagreat public relationseventforourchapter.
