5.3.2. Saran praktis
Untuk dapat meminimalisir seseorang terlibat dalam self-injury, penulis memberikan saran-saran sebagai berikut:
1. Diharapkan orang yang melakukan self-injury dapat mencoba berbagai macam cara untuk melampiaskan emosi secara positif seperti menulis diari, menggambar, berolahraga, bermeditasi serta kegiatan positif lain yang lebih bermanfaat dan menyenangkan daripada melampiaskan emosi secara negatif seperti self-injury.
2. Diharapkan orang yang melakukan self-injury dapat terlebih dahulu mengutamakan self-esteem yang positif seperti memandang dirinya dengan baik, serta menganggap bahwa dirinya berharga dan layak untuk dicintai.
3. Diharapkan pemerintah serta institusi pendidikan dapat memberikan penyuluhan seperti cara untuk melampiaskan emosi secara positif atau pentingnya membangun self-esteem yang positif kepada masyarakat dan anak didik dalam rangka mencegah self-injury sejak dini.
4. Diharapkan masyarakat turut membantu serta memberikan motivasi positif daripada mengucilkan ataupun memberikan stigma negatif yang dapat memperburuk kondisi orang yang melakukan self-injury.
