The research is specifically analyzing fears of intimacy reflected in The Fault In Our Stars novel by John Green. The objective of this study is to analyze this novel based on the Fears of Intimacy Psychological Approach. There are two data sources that the researcher used to analyze and discuss the content of the research.
The researcher used two data sources: primary data and secondary data. The primary data source of the study is The Fault in Our Stars novel by John Green.
Secondary data are the supporting data taken from some papers and articles related to the novel and the Fears of Intimacy. The secondary data of the study are also taken from any information related to the novel. The second data source serves as a tool to help the researcher to understand the utterances well.
Qualitative descriptive data research and Fears of Intimacy psychological criticism approach are used in this thesis to help the researcher in analyzing and explaining the content to make it easier to understand by most people. Based on the analysis, the researcher gets some conclusions. The findings reveal that The Fears of Intimacy in the novel is reflected by the main character’s feelings, behaviors, and utterances. Furthermore, this research also shows that The Fears of Intimacy in the novel has affected the main character’s life and surroundings.
