Considering the importance of language, our government has prepared English as a foreign language to be mastered by the student. It is difficult for students to have grammar skills if they do not have sufficient vocabulary knowledge. This problem is about the weakness of vocabulary mastery.7 The problems are that they still have poor English vocabulary and most of them have not reached the standard score in English.

According to the case, researcher will conduct research and conduct the study titled "The correlation between vocabulary mastery and students' ability to write procedural text for the eighth grade in SMP MA'ARIF 1 Ponorogo in academic year 2014/2015". Vocabulary is one of the elements in developing skills, so people who want to master these language skills must first master the vocabulary in English.
