Alfred University Business Student Awarded Scholarship 4/05/00

Rochester, NY -- Each year the Rochester chapter of the Financial Executives Institute (FEI) awards scholarships to two business students at colleges and universities in the Greater Rochester area. This year, Alfred University junior William Ueland was recognized as one of the top business students in the region when he was awarded a $1,500 scholarship from FEI. The scholarships are given each year to junior business students, one majoring in finance, the other in accounting, explained Dr. Abderrahman Robana, AU professor of business administration. Robana, a member of the Rochester chapter of FEI, nominated Ueland, of Hopewell Junction, NY, and fellow AU junior business student Damion Collins of Rochester for the award. This is quite an accomplishment," Robana said of Ueland being awarded one of the two available scholarships. "Students from 10 area colleges and universities in the Greater Rochester area are nominated for this award."Ueland, a finance and marketing major, was nominated based on his 3.98 overall grade- point average, which includes a 4.0 GPA in his major. Character and academic achievement are taken into

consideration, said Robana, noting Ueland's work as a tutor for fellow students and as a consultant in the University's Center for Family Business and Entrepreneurial Leadership.Robana nominated Collins, an accounting major, based on his 3.82 GPA. Collins is an Alfred University Presidential Scholarship recipient and has made the National Deans List.
