Alfred University Dancers to Offer Preview of Major Concert 11/29/99
Alfred, NY -- Student and faculty dancers and choreographers will offer a preview Dec. 9 through 11 of "All About Love," Alfred University's full-scale dance concert scheduled for late February 2000.Performances, all free and open to the public, start with an open dress rehearsal at 8 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 9), followed by preview performances at 8 p.m.
Friday and Saturday (Dec. 10-11.) The show will mark the public debut of the new dance studio in the Miller Performing Arts Center.Faculty members involved in the show include a new faculty member, Michael Dempsey, associate professor of technical theater; and Linda Mitchell, adjunct professor of ballet (and also associate professor of history), who will premier a poetic ballet.Susan Roebuck, associate professor of dance, directs the premier of "A Kiss to Build a Dream On," set to the music of Louis Armstrong and danced by students Nicole Frye, Beth Grimes, Hannah Lash, Melissanne Patton, Marie Pavone, Erica Robinson, and Laura Sears. A dance titled "Insectum," choreographed and danced by Hannah Lash and Morgan Weinrich, is also on the program. Both dances will represent Alfred
University at the American College Dance Festival in March 2000.Holly Lewis will dance a duet with Morgan
