IEA Visiting Artist: Lawrence Brose Date: March 16-20, 2015
Location of Event: The Institute for Electronic Arts at the School of Art and Design of the New York State College of Ceramics
Sponsored by Committee or Division: The Institute for Electronic Arts and the Division of Expanded Media
Lawrence Brose of Buffalo will be participating in an artist residency at the Institute for Electronic Arts the week of March 16. Currently serving as a visiting assistant professor at the University of Buffalo teaching courses in the art of photography, Brose's extensive artistic practice spans from the mid 1980s to the present day, receiving innumerable grants, residencies, awards, and has shown his work nationally and internationally.
Throughout his residency, Brose will be continuing a series of work taking high-resolution scans of frames from his film work, processing these images, and producing prints of various types. He will also be exploring use of alternative photography techniques to make cyanotype prints.
The Institute for Electronic Art's Visiting Artist Program is sponsored in part by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.

ATS Special Meeting
The ATS Council is having a special meeting on Thursday, March 19 from 9:45 - 10:45 A.M. in the Board Room in Powell Campus Center. All ATS members are encouraged to attend.
This meeting is extremely important in determining the future direction of the council. In recent years the council has struggled with its purpose and goals. Recently, Council members met with Support Staff Council and President Edmondson to help outline options for its future direction.
We are also in need of new members to serve on the Council. Council members are elected for 3-year terms. We have a representative from each division and six at-large members.
We are also seeking new leadership for the council - a new chair (or co-chairs) and secretary. New faces are vital to the continued success of the ATS Council.
You are strongly encouraged to attend this meeting to help direct the future of the council. If you have any interest in serving on the council but are unable to attend the special meeting, please let me know.

Stress Management is Medicine: Manage Your Stress, Save Your Life
Save the Date - Tuesday, March 24; 2:30 p.m. in Nevins Theater for this informative Seminar.
Ongoing stress can make people more susceptible to illnesses. It is important to know how to
recognize high stress levels and take action to handle it productively. Participants will get familiar with their personal stress symptoms and warning signs of distress which cause them to be prone to illness.
Throughout the seminar, participants will learn to understand the "fight or flight response" and how stress affects their bodies and their health. They will gain an awareness of how thoughts can cause or worsen stress and learn evidence-based methods for reducing stress.
