Pour Your Heart Out For Helene Lumia: Live and Silent Auction Date: Saturday, Feb, 15
Location: National Casting Center Foundry Time: 4 - 5 P.M.
Cost to Attend: Free/open to public
Sponsored by: Sculpture/Dimensional Studies
POUR YOUR HEART OUT, Live auction hosted by Gerar Edizel, chair of Art History at Alfred University, will begin at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15. Work by Coral Lambert, Angus Powers, Aesa Bjork, and other faculty and alumni will all be up for auction with proceeds going to Helene Lumia. Helene is an Alfred alumna and role model to many current students.
Helene Lumia went into the emergency room on June 22, 2013 and received the news that all families pray not to hear. She was told she had a cyst on her spinal cord where it connects to her brain stem.
She would need to have emergency surgery to remove it.
Helene fought hard through many surgeries and procedures; however, her spinal cord was severely damaged. She was transferred to Atlanta, GA for intensive physical therapy, hopeful that she would be able to recover. Unfortunately, the damage done by the cyst was irreversible and Helene is now living her life as a quadriplegic. Please help raise money so that her family can bring her to live at home.
If you wish to donate artwork, please drop it off at the Foundry or email Elise Betrus at [email protected] or Coral Lambert at [email protected]
