S.A.V.E. and Child Abuse Workshops
In order to meet NYS Education Department requirements for certification, all education major and minor students must attend a Safe Schools Against Violence In Education (SAVE) Workshop and a Child Abuse Identification & Reporting Workshop.
The Division of Education will offer these workshops as follows:
Safe Schools Against Violence in Education (SAVE) Workshop:
Monday, March 14 & Wednesday, March 16, 2011 from 8-9:15 a.m. - 336 Myers Hall (must attend both days to complete workshop).
March 14 & 16, 2011 from 9:20-10:35 a.m. - 336 Myers Hall (must attend both days to complete the workshop).
Child Abuse Identification & Reporting Workshop:
Monday, May 2, 2011 - 4:10-6:50 p.m. - 228 Myers Hall
Please note: This is the last time these workshops will be offered this semester. If you are an
education major or minor student who is graduating in May but haven't attended these workshops yet please attend. The Division of Education cannot recommend you for certification until you complete both workshops.

May graduates can now order regalia at the AU Bookstore. The deadline is Wednesday, March 30. Pre- payment is required. Stop in to give measurements. Bachelor's unit (cap, gown, tassel, hood) $53.96;
Master's unit $59.96.

Study Abroad Opportunity for Liberal Arts Students
Great new study abroad opportunity for liberal arts students! We have just created an exchange with the University of Winchester, a small university in Winchester, England. Winchester, home of King Alfred, is a lively city with a rich medieval history located about one hour from London.
The university offers courses in a variety of fields including (but not limited to) performing arts, English literature, psychology, history, religion, American studies, criminal justice, education, and archaeology. On-campus housing is available.
Students wishing to participate in this exchange will pay their tuition and fees at Alfred and their housing and meals at Winchester.

The IART Program is hosting an Alfred favorite, Judi Strahota, for a wood sculpture workshop. She's bringing her sweet dog and is looking for places to stay.

The resume collection part of the Internship & Summer Job Fair will continue until 4:30pm on Thursday, February 24th.
To submit your resume to one or dozens of opportunities, you will need to bring a hard copy of your resume with you to the Career Development. There you will review the possible internships and summer jobs then insert your resume into the appropriate packet(s). This will make more sense once you see how it works.

The winners will be announced during Honors Convocation, April 15, 2011 at 4 p.m. in McLane Gym.
