Students' Rights under FERPA

Under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), students have certain rights with respect to their education record at AU. One of these is the right to block the release of "directory

information."

Attached is a document that summarizes students' FERPA rights and provides a form that can be used to prevent the release of directory information during the time you are enrolled at AU.

Please read the form carefully noting the significant consequences of blocking directory information and then, if you wish to keep the fact that you are enrolled at AU entirely confidential, sign the document and return it to the Student Service Center in Seidlin Hall.

If you have questions or would like more information, contact the SSC or email [email protected].

Sculpture Barn Raising!

FRIDAY, OCT. 10, 2014

SECOND FLOOR ENTRANCE TO POWELL CAMPUS CENTER 1:30 P.M. UNTIL COMPLETE!

ALL ARE WELCOME!

Participants will help construct an intricate mathematical sculpture designed by George Hart (Stony Brook University), who will explain the underlying geometrical ideas as we go along.

The design is a unique arrangement of laser-cut wooden components lying in the planes of a pentagonal hexecontahedron.

Over a several-hour period, participants will join parts together to make modules and then assemble the modules into the final 34-inch diameter form. All materials will be provided.

The sculpture will remain on permanent display on campus.

Be Safe in the Woods!

Hunting season for large game (deer and bear) will soon open in New York State. Most public lands allow hunting this time of year. Please use supreme caution when hiking or hunting in the woods by wearing blaze orange that covers your front, back, and head.

Hunting season runs from Wednesday, Oct. 1- Tuesday, Dec. 16 for the Southern Tier.

If you are a hunter, remember your number one safety rule when shooting, "Know your target and what is beyond!"

For more information on hunting season dates, you can visit the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation website below.

Hunting is not permitted on Alfred University property nor at Foster Lake.
