KETERAMPILAN MEMBACA DAN TERJEMAHANNYA DI SMP PGRI 4 BANDAR MATARAM 8, ditulis oleh DESTRI PUSPITAWATI, Siswa Nomor 1169867, Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, telah diuji (Munaqosyah) di Jurusan Tarbiyah pada hari Rabu 28 Desember di 8 malam Jadi terdapat hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara kemampuan membaca siswa dengan kemampuan menerjemahkan siswa di kelas VIII SMP PGRI 4 Bandar Mataram. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP PGRI 4 Bandar Mataram yang berjumlah 40 siswa.

So there is a positive and significant correlation between students' reading ability and their translation ability in the eighth grade of SMP PGRI 4 Bandar Mataram. The result of the research can be used by students to increase their knowledge about learning English, especially reading ability. So, the purpose of the reading activity is to know the meaning of the words and phrases of the reading passages. This means that reading skill is the part that requires the power of understanding the full meaning of the passage.

Intrusive translation is the translation from one language to another or the reinterpretation of the message in another language code. The first stage is the analysis, the translator analyzes the grammatical connection and the meaning of the word. The research paradigm is a draft that shows the thinking model of the researcher and the correlation between the variables that are being researched.

Operational definition is the definition that is based on the characteristics of the things that will be defined. It is a variable that is selected, manipulated and measured by the researcher.26 The students' reading ability (independent variable) is the student's ability to understand the text and get the main meaning from the text. The indicators for reading are that students will be able to: 1) identify the main ideas and topic of a text, 2) answer the questions in the text well, 3) know the information of the text. The dependent variable is the variable that someone measures to determine the effect of the independent variable.27 Students'.

The object of the research was the eighth grade in the first half of the academic year 2016/2017.

Anthony, Pearson, and Raphael argue that reading is the process of constructing meaning through the dynamic interaction between the reader's existing knowledge, the information suggested by the written language, and the context of the reading situation.1 Reading is a means to language acquisition, of communication and the sharing of information and ideas. The bottom-up model is the reading model that suggests that a reader reads the words and sentences and looks at the organization of the text (without relating it to experience or prior knowledge) to construct meaning from what is written in the text. text meaning depends on knowledge of both vocabulary and syntax.6. The interactive model is the reading model that states that both a top-down and a bottom-up process take place when a person reads a text.7 Of the above two models, it can be a single chain of the reading process.

The teacher shows the title of the text to be read, shows a picture of the text and asks the students to predict what the text is about or what information they expect from the text. Skimming gives readers the advantage of being able to anticipate the purpose of the passage, the main theme or thrust, and perhaps some of the developing or supporting ideas. Albert Josiah said that reading ability is the result of the interaction between the perception of graphic symbols that represent language and the reader's language ability, cognitive skills and word knowledge.11 In other words, reading is the process of understanding content from text.

Aebersold and field define "what happens when people look at a text and assign the meaning of the written symbol in the text, the reader finds the meaning that will help him learn something. 12. So if the students just read aloud but can't understand the content of the play, it means they don't understand the play. To make the process of reading skill very interesting, there are some stages to be followed by the students.

According to the statement above, the author can conclude that translation is an attempt to change the Source Language Text into target language; meaning of translation is the same with the author; or translation is the transfer of message from the Source Language (SL) to the Target Language (TL) with the first expressing the meaning and the second being the style. Intralingual translation is the translation within the same language, which may involve rewording or paraphrasing.

Intersemiotic translation is the translation from one language system to another that means the transfer of meaning from a verbal sign to a non-verbal sign or from one medium to another. The translation process is usually used by a translator as a guide in translating the text from the source language to the target language. The translation process consists of three steps, analyzing the source language texts, transfer, restructuring. 18.

Nida said that translation consists in reproducing the closest natural equivalence of the source language's message in the receptor language.20 So translation ability is the author's ability to show his feelings or thoughts with easy language, and hopefully the readers understand about his or her thoughts. her mind. In the process of translation, authors can be said to be successful, their translation contains some aspects of translation. According to Harris, there are five aspects of translation such as following, omission, transposition, vocabulary, grammar and appropriate meaning between the word and the sentence.

In addition, the translation ability score in this research was based on Hurtanda Albir A and Rochayah Machali as follows: 22. The writer does not master word formation. Not enough to rate.

Based on the table above, the writer can assume that translation is an important part of direct communication that refers to productive and expressive activity. If the students' reading ability is fair, then their translation ability is fair, and if the students' reading ability is bad, then their translation ability is also bad.

Based on the table of reading and translation results, the writer wanted to know the correlation between the two. To find and prove if there is a connection between students. reading skills and their translation skills, the writer used the formula for product moment correlation:. There is a positive and significant correlation between students' reading ability and their translation ability in the eighth grade of SMP PGRI 4 Bandar Mataram.

There is no positive and significant correlation between the . reading skills and their translation skills in eighth grade of SMP PGRI 4 Bandar Mataram. The writer measured the level of correlation between reading ability and translation ability the eighth grade of SMP PGRI 4 Bandar Mataram, by counting the square of r observed and multiplying by 100%. Based on the above analysis, it can be deduced that the level of correlation between reading ability and translation ability is 35.52%.

The variable was tested using calculation of product moment correlation between the student's reading ability and their translation ability. It showed that there was a positive and significant correlation between students' reading ability and their translation ability.

SMP PGRI 4 Bandar Mataram has a permanent infrastructure which was divided into different areas to support the teaching learning process such as.

From the data above it can be found that the highest score was 76 and the lowest score was 36. From the data above it can be found that the highest score was 75 and the lowest score was 42.

Therefore, translation is very important in the earning process, where a student must have the ability to translate text. The principal must support the English learning process by fully preparing the facilitation and the instrument. English teachers should motivate students to be more active in learning English by helping them expand their knowledge by understanding the text they read.

They should read another reading source like newspaper, magazine, novel, magazine, etc. to develop them in reading.
