ABSTRAK

Kemampuan komunikasi matematis adalah kemampuan mengkomunikasikan gagasan menggunakan simbol, tabel, diagram atau media lain untuk menjelaskan keadaan. Hasil penelitian sebelumnya menunjukkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa SMP, SMA dan mahasiswa masih rendah pada hasil tes. Tulisan inibertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa SMP, SMA dan mahasiswa pada materi aljabar. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif di mana data berupa pernyataan lisan maupun tulisan subjek yang berasal dari hasil tes dan cuplikan wawancara. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 8 siswa SMP, SMA serta mahasiswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan semua subjek mampu secara tertulis dan wawancara untuk mempresentasikan penyelesaian masalah dan menggunakan istilah-istilah atau notasi matematika secara tertulis. Semua subjek siswa SMA dan setengah dari semua subjek SMP dan Mahasiswa mampu menyatakan suatu masalah ke dalam ide matematis tertulis. Hanya subjek SMA yang mampu untuk menyelesaikan soal dengan benar secara tertulis. Tulisan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi salah satu acuan bagi siswa dan guru dalam mengembangkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis

ABSTRACT

Mathematical communication ability is the ability to communicate ideas using symbols, tables, diagrams or other media to explain situations. The results of previous studies showed that the mathematical communication skills of junior high school, high school and university students were still low on test results. This paper aims to describe the mathematical communication skills of junior high school, high school and college students in algebra material. This type of research is descriptive qualitative in which the data is in the form of oral or written statements of the subject derived from test results and interview excerpts. The subjects of this study were 8 junior high school and high school students and university students. The results showed that all subjects were able to present written and interview solutions to problems and use mathematical terms or notation in writing. All high school student subjects and half of all junior high school and student subjects were able to express a problem into written mathematical ideas. Only high school subjects are able to

solve questions correctly in writing. This paper is expected to be a reference for students and teachers in developing mathematical communication skills
