The aim of this research is to know external factors that are causing the students difficulties in learning English in era Education 4.0. The researcher use descriptive qualitative research and the approach of case study. The techniques of collecting data in this research are questionnaire, observation, and interview. The subject of this research is the students from Class XI TPTU 1 at SMK N 1 Kutasari. The results of the research that affect the difficulties of students in learning English which are seen from 3 aspects show the results of the questionnaire that the most dominant factor causes difficulties in learning English is family factor. It means that the family of students from Class XI TPTU 1 at SMK N 1 Kutasari still does not pay attention to the learning process of their children. To support the results of the questionnaire, researcher conducted interviews with students. From the results of interview with students, there are still many students who think that family does not really care about learning for their children and the lack of the role of family in supporting their children to have a passion for learning. Meanwhile, the results of the observation of learning facilities showed that the learning facilities at SMK N 1 Kutasari were sufficient for learning 4.0. This was supported by interviews with the English teacher who stated that the available learning facilities were sufficient even though they were still not perfect.
