Konflik sering sekali terjadi dalam kehidupan manusia dan kadang-kadang terjadi karena adanya keinginan yang tidak terpenuhi pada manusia tersebut sehingga menjadi faktor yang mempengaruhi perubahan psikis yang berakibat pada perilaku dan sikap yang diambil dalam menjalani kehidupannya. Novel Eka Kurniawan yang berjudul Man Tiger ini menceritakan tentang keluarga yang mengalami konflik antara satu dengan yang lainnya. Hal ini menarik untuk dibahas karena karya sastra sendiri tidak akan pernah lepas dari cerita kehidupan manusia. Hal yang dibahas dalam skripsi ini adalah konflik yang dihadapi oleh karakter utama dalam novel tersebut dan bagaimana karakter utama menghadapi konflik tersebut. Dalam menganalisis, teori pendekatan psikologis digunakan untuk menganalisa konflik eksternal dan teori pendekatan psikologis kepribadian Sigmund Freud digunakan untuk mengetahui apa reaksi karakter utama terhadap setiap konflik: apa saja konflik yang dihadapi oleh karakter utama, reaksi karakter utama terhadap setiap konfliknya melalui teori Sigmund Freud Id, Ego dan Superego, dan bagaimana karakter utama menghadapi konflik yang dihadapinya (berhasil atau tidak berhasil). Hasil analisis skripsi ini mengungkapkan bahwa:
konflik eksternal yang dihadapi oleh karakter utama terjadi antara karakter utama dan karakter lainnya, seperti konflik Margio sebagai karakter utama dengan orang tuanya dan konflik dengan keluarga Anwar Sadat, Margio tidak berhasil menghadapi konfliknya melalui Sigmund Freud Id, Ego dan Superego, dia membunuh Anwar Sadat.
