The purpose of this research was to determine the level of interest in reading and the factors that influence students' interest in reading of fifth semester students of the English Language Education Study Program at the Islamic State University of Mataram in reading articles in English magazines. . The questionnaire was to determine the level of students' interest in reading English magazine articles, the interview was to get more in-depth information about students' interest in reading English magazine articles. From the results of the research, the researcher found that the level of students' interest in reading on average was at a high level with these details: 8 (20%) students received the "Very High" category, students received the "High" category and 3 ( 7, 5%) students received "Quite high".
Meanwhile, the results of research through interview found more in-depth information about the factors that influence students' reading interest, namely as follows: Lectures reading material, reading desire, the role of English journal articles, benefits of English journal articles, and benefits for language skills.
INTRODUCTION
Background of Research
Scholarly articles such as journals are one of the popular scholarly writings within the field of higher education. Because the content of the magazine is reliable and up-to-date, the content of the magazine is the result of research. Therefore, scholarly articles such as journals are very suitable to be used as reading material or research reference.
A student of the last semester could be said to have a superior use of scientific resources due to the need for references in the preparation of the final thesis, i.e. diploma thesis.
The Statement of Problem
This puts Indonesia fifth in the world in terms of social media activity based on research results from Semiocast, an independent institution in Paris.5 The results of that research are related to the results of research from the digital marketing research institute Emarketer that there are more than 100 million active smartphone users in Indonesia in 2018.6 The result of that study showed the activity of Indonesians on social media such as Twitter, Instagram and others, not to access knowledge. Therefore, the researcher will conduct research that focuses on students' reading interest, especially scientific articles, namely journals. How is student interest in reading English magazine articles at State Islamic University of Mataram English Language Education Study Program.
What factors affect students' reading interest in the study program of English language education at the State Islamic University of Mataram.
Objective and Significance of Research
It is expected that this research will bring benefits to lecturers and university academic environment to find out students' reading interest in English journal articles and the things that affect it.

Similarly with the mixed arrangement of books, it thus becomes an inhibiting factor for students' interest in visiting the library. The second review finding came from Puspa Sari in her thesis entitled "Minat Baca Siswa Kelas XI SMK Negeri 1 KebumenTerhadap Novel Populer".8 The purpose of this study was to describe students'. Research paper is article published in scientific journal as this type is the result of research done. Research paper is intended to open up a new discourse of discussion and research, and to discover theories or views related to the problem being studied that are worth pursuing or reviewing. review papers, scientific article compiled on the basis of literature research or theoretical. The content and format of a non-research paper with a research paper have some elements that are relatively similar, but differ materially.
The difference is that the non-research article does not have the elements of method, result, and discussion, such as those contained in the content and format of the research article.
Research Method
Therefore, the researcher is enthusiastic to analyze the reading interest for English magazine articles among fifth semester students. The source of the research data was the reading interest of the fifth semester students of the English Language Education study program at the Islamic State University of Mataram. The researcher used the questionnaire to determine the level of students' reading interests in reading English magazine articles.
To measure the validity of the instruments in the questionnaire and the interview in this research. 5 I often read English magazine articles in my spare time 6 I give any answer when the teacher asks me a question about. Interview is conversation with a specific purpose, which in this research is suitable for finding deep information about students' reading interests in English journal articles.

4 What is the reason why you read articles in an English journal other than as reading material in lectures. Using a questionnaire to obtain data about students' reading interests on English journal articles, as well as using interviews, the researcher got more data about students' reading interests personally from some of the fifth semester students.

Interview was conducted to get deeper data regarding the reading interest of fifth semester students in reading English journal articles. The following were the students' responses regarding journal used as reading material in lectures, especially English journal articles for English Language Education Study Program students. Interviewer: How do you know that an English journal article is suitable as lecture material.
Likewise, reading English Language Education students' interest in English journal articles is only because students are English majors or not. Interviewer: It's one of the reasons why you read articles in an English magazine just because you're an English major. The result of the above interview showed that almost all students said that reading English magazine articles was not just because they were students.
Interviewer : What do you think about English journal articles that are used as compulsory reading material for lectures. The following are the students' statements about the reason for reading English journal articles compared to reading others. Interviewer: What is the reason why you read articles in an English journal other than as reading material in lectures.
The above interview results showed that students have their own reasons for reading articles in English journals instead of reading others. For students approaching their final semester, reading articles in English magazines is very important and useful as they practice.
DISCUSSION
The Level of Reading Interest in Reading English Journal
It means that students of the fifth semester of the English Language Education Study Program are interested in reading articles in English magazines. The response of many students given to number 1 which says “I like to read articles in English magazines” proves that the fifth semester. For students in the fifth semester of the English Language Education Study Program, they are taught to read articles in English magazines for personal reading or lecture materials that have been provided by the lecturer.
The fifth semester students of the English Language Education Study Program have an interest in reading English journal articles because journal was very useful for them to add. The factors affecting students' reading interest in reading English journal articles of the fifth semester Students of English Language Education study program at the State Islamic University of Mataram. The following was an explanation of the factors that influence students' reading interest in reading English journal articles.
Students majoring in the English Language Education Study Program are actually familiar with English journal articles. Informants M, H and L stated that they do not read English journal articles only because they are students of the English Language Education Study Program. The role of English journal articles is very meaningful for fifth semester English language education students.
Firstly, the level of reading interest in reading English journal articles by fifth semester students of English Language Education Study Program at State Islamic University of Mataram can be said as high level. Based on the research findings, these factors influence the high reading interest of fifth semester English Language Education Study Program students to read English journal articles.

Conclusion
Based on the results of the questionnaire, the students of the fifth semester are classified into very high, high and sufficiently high student interest categories. Islamic University of Mataram were lectures, reading material, readiness to read, role of English journal articles, advantages of English journal articles, benefits for language skills.
Suggestions
The researcher hopes that the future researcher will be able to conduct deeper research into students' interests in reading English magazine articles.
