Title Skripsi : Analysis of students' ability to write a descriptive text based on its generic structure in the tenth grade of SMAN 3 Parepare. An Analysis of Students' Capability in Writing Descriptive Text Based on Its Generic Structure in Tenth Grade SMAN 3 Parepare, (Leaded by Wahyu Hidayat and Mujahidah). The researcher is interested in determining the student's ability to write a descriptive text based on its generic structure.

How is the students' ability to write descriptive text at the tenth grade of SMAN 3 Pairs. How is the students' mistake in writing descriptive text based on generic structure at the tenth grade of SMAN 3 Pairs. To analyze students' ability to write descriptive text at the tenth grade of SMAN 3 Pairs.

To identify students' errors in writing descriptive text based on the generic structure in the tenth grade of SMAN 3 Parepare.

The researcher identifies the students' ability to write descriptive text and then describes the students' output. Previous research did not identify students' ability to write descriptive text based on gender. The result of the data analysis was that the students' ability to write descriptive text at tenth grade level in SMAN 3 Parepare was categorized as excellent.

This can be seen from the answer result when writing a descriptive text by analyzing the generic structure. Students' ability to write a descriptive text based on its generic structure in the tenth grade of a vocational secondary school.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

Previous Related Research Findings

The problems students face in writing descriptive text are: a) students confused to analyze identification and description. Prasetyo Hariyadi in his research "An Analysis of Students' Proficiency in Writing Descriptive Text in Tenth Grade Students of Academic Year SMAN 11 Jambi said that students' proficiency in Descriptive Text was good. This can be seen from the students' ability to write descriptive text 18 students or (55%) were categorized as good, 9 students (27%) were categorized as excellent, 5 students (15%) were categorized as satisfactory, 1. Students (3%) were categorized unsatisfactory and there were no students who categorized failure.

Some Pertinent Ideas

The previous research above focuses on analyzing students' descriptive text writing ability in the overall term structure of the text, the above research uses the test as their instrument as well as the researcher. The difference is that in this research, the quantitative approach with descriptive design will be used, it will be applied to analyze the ability of students in writing descriptive text based on the generic structure of the text in the tenth grade of SMAN 3 Parepare. According to Nicholas Highman, writing is not simply a task to be done after research or other preparations have been completed - it can be an integral part of the progress of the work.6.

There are many reasons to get students to write, both in and out of class. Prewriting is the term for all the activities that prepare us to write a first draft. The purpose of narrative text is to amuse or amuse the reader with a story.

Its purpose is to inform readers about events of the day that are considered newsworthy or important. Its social function is to show the readers that the idea is the important matter. In Hortatory Exposition, there are some opinions about certain things to reinforce the main ideas of the text.

The purpose of the writer is to explain how something works or to show the reasons for some phenomenon. From the above text types, the writer chooses descriptive text to be applied in this research. Descriptive text is a type of text that describes something about a thing, person, animal or other.

According to Andrew and James, the purpose of descriptive text is to present the measured and verified. When writing descriptive text, some of the keys to writing a good description are to use details that help readers picture the person describing.

The researcher tests the respondents to know the extent of their ability in writing descriptive text. Here the researcher used an achievement test to identify the ability of students in writing descriptive text, especially in generic structure of the text. In this activity, the writer categorizes text based on the type of generic structure of descriptive text.

To find the answer, the researcher analyzed the overall structure in the descriptive text of 30 student papers. To answer the questions "How are students' abilities to write descriptive text in the tenth grade of SMAN 3 Parepare", the accumulation is as follows. 35 Muhammad Saibani Wiyanto and Panji Wisnu Asmorobangun, Gender Differences of Students' Ability in Writing Descriptive Text.

FINDING AND DISCUSSION

Findings

After collecting the data, the writer reads and learns the descriptive text one by one. The writer then analyzes the text based on paragraph identification and description of the descriptive text and then scores the student's result. The above percentage shows that almost all students have an understanding of descriptive text with a generic structure, although there are some students who write descriptive text and have not completed the identification and description paragraph in the text. I have a friend named yes, he is very fat and funny, he is a nice person, but sometimes angry.

Some of them write descriptive text just to explain information about the topic in general. In my school I have a troublemaker who is very worried about me, his name is mr. Arifuddin is very happy to joke with his students so that his students are happy with him even though he is a math teacher, I am still happy and excited to study during his subject classes.

I have a classmate named syukur tuo, he is a quiet person but he is very loyal to people. Syukur tuo is a loyal friend, he is happy to help me when I am in trouble as well as me, syukur is very happy to help someone, but he sometimes doesn't care about anyone who ever teased him. The teacher at SMAN 3 Parepare is very good because he is able to give wise and useful motivation to his students.

Based on the above analysis of students' errors in writing descriptive text based on generic structure, some students still do not understand the identification and description paragraph, sometimes they write part of the identification paragraph in the description paragraph and vice versa. This can be seen from the result of the answer in writing a descriptive text by analyzing the generic structure, where the number of students who achieved a score of 4 was 3 students with a share of 20%. Percentage-wise, female students of the tenth grade of SMAN 3 Parepare have good abilities and more understanding of descriptive text than male students.

Discussion

The researcher intentionally balances the number of males and females because the researcher wants to find out the difference in descriptive text writing ability between genders in the tenth grade of SMAN 3 Parepare, the researcher wants to find out the descriptive text writing ability of the students. In the identification paragraph, there is only 1 student out of 30 students who still does not understand the identification in the descriptive text. While in the descriptive paragraph, out of 30 students, only 1 student still does not understand the description in the descriptive text.

In fact, the same problem occurs in this research, but this research did not analyze the text of the students' report, the researcher only gave an explanation about the students' result and showed the students' mistake in writing the descriptive text. Compared to this research's error analysis, Lisne Octavia's previous research has more difficulty writing descriptive text than this research. This can be seen in the response result of writing a descriptive text by analyzing the generic structure, where there are 11 males with a score of 4, 8 females with a score of 3, 4 females with a score of 2, and no females with a score of 1.

As a conclusion in this discussion, the researcher found the total score number of students after the researcher analyzed the overall data obtained, the researcher concluded that students' ability to write descriptive text was categorized into excellent. And description, out of 30 students there is only 1 student who still does not understand about description in the descriptive text. The students only write descriptive text to explain the information about the topic in general.

When determining the different abilities of students according to gender, out of 30 students, of which 15 were male and 15 female, female students achieved a higher score than male students when writing a descriptive text. We can conclude that female students of SMAN 3 Parepare class have good abilities and more understanding of descriptive text than male students. Improving student's ability in writing descriptive text using Learning Cell teaching strategy in the first year of Mts Yayasan Islamiyah Medan.
