Suffolk Sept the 25th, 1862 I now sit down to write to you again I shall indevor to write as often as I can whether I get any answer or not I think I have writen five letters since I have
recd [received?] any from you I have recieved only two letters from you since I
inlisted I got them when I was in ortage I do not know but the truble has been in the way that I had
you direct your letters when you write again direct to Mar Daniel Hall Co. Ho. 130th Regement, N.Y.V.

we are in Suffolk yet and we have not seen any battle yet and further more we have not seen the enamy yet nor as mutch as a Secession Flag but we are looking for them every day. They have sent us word that we must leave here before tomor row knight but I guess we shall take our own time to leave: probaly they will wish that we wer back here again when we do moove I think that when we move from here we shall see what can be done at Richmond I wish that I could hear from home I want to know how you all get along whether you are sick or well and if your crops are secured
and if you are going to have enough _____ to last the

Family through the winter I want you to have enough and if you think you will be short tell me about how mutch you think you will be short and I will try to arange it so that you will not suffer: tell me how Father and Mother feals about Charleys beeing at war tell them that Charley
and I are both well and keep up good grit and that they must keep up good courage and streng then us with their Prayers we must bee all united and put our trust in God and if we do so it will be well with us whether we die in the know that we have all got to die sooner as later and now

let us all live in that way that if we never see each other again here on Earth that we can all meet as an unbroken Famely in that world where there is no war no parting with friends no pain no sorrow Catharine do not forget your God: and try to keep up famely Prayr and remember me in your Prayers. I still remain your affectionate friend and Husband I expected to be called on to
drill but as I am not I will

J Cartwright was here yesterday but I did not have much time to visit with him he was well he was not here but about three hours and I was on drill all the time that he was here

Tell Father and Mother Sanfield that I send my love to them tell them that I am well and injoy myself mutch better than I expected to when I left home but I hve not
Forgoten home nor friends my famely and friends are not out of my mind much of the time I often think of the visets that Catharine and I hav Made you: and I would like to step in and
take dinner with you to day and Masure [measure]
legs with the Old Gentleman I guess my legs is the bigest Now: I guess that is enough of such trash tell them to keep up good courage for I think that if nothing turns up more
than coman [common] that the war will close and that all that is living can come home in less than
one year tell them to write to me for it
would be a great pleasure to me to read a letter from them it would seam allmost like
having avised with them I would like to hear from all of my friends Catharine I want you to tell me if Ansom’s folks have made you a visit

I would like to hear whether Arvin and Wilson has gone to war or not if they have not all them to write to me I guess that I can get time to read all the letters that they all can get time to write
I will send you a dollar in this letter and I
[viat?] want you to send it to Seia or come other plase and get me fifty cents worth of
lent postage stamps
in one card and send them in a letter to me take the rest and buy paper and stamps to write to me with it is a hard matter to get stamps here I want you to write often get them stamps and send them as soon as you can but dont wate for them before you write write as often as you can and when ever you can, tell Francis that I want him to be a good boy and get the Cows and pick up potatoes and do all such work that he can and I want him to write to
write to me and tell me how much work he has done as soon as he has got the potatoes taken cair of and I will sind him the money for all

Francis see how good you can bee the better you are the more money you will get and if Anna and Foney and Nancy is good I will send them some to
now for fear that you will not direct your letters rite I will give you my adress again
