Reading comprehension is necessary in language for people to be able to understand what they read. Reading comprehension is a serious skill needed to achieve in school and beyond, yet many students read below grade level. So the researcher conducted the research in SMP Negeri 18 Makassar under the title "Improving students' reading comprehension by using image".
Based on the above background, the researcher formulates the problem statement as follows "How is the improvement of students' reading comprehension by using image at SMP Negeri 18 Makassar?". Reading comprehension here means the students' skills to understand a procedural text and answer the question about the text. Reading comprehension focused on teaching literal reading comprehension, recognizing main ideas and supporting ideas.

The pre-test was conducted before the treatment to find out where their prior knowledge was and to know the score of the students who would eventually find out the results in the post-test whether there was an increase or not. This means that the implementation of text in teaching procedure can improve the students' reading comprehension. This means that by looking at the pictures, it helps the students to understand more about the context of the subject because they will get a lot of information.
