The purpose of the Agriculture Sales Career Development Event is to provide an individual with the basic skills to take advantage of the career opportunities offered in the field of sales. Agricultural products benefit from sales capabilities, both for input to production and marketing of the products.

Team Makeup – The event will be a team event consisting of four students. A team may compete with fewer than four members. Each jury consists of two judges and their scores are averaged.

Each participant will have fifteen (15) minutes for their sales presentation with a twelve (12) minute time warning. The contestant will receive the script and supporting materials ten (10) minutes prior to the event and will have ten (10) minutes to demonstrate their skills to the judges over the phone with a seven (7) minute warning.
AGRONOMY

The team will need to develop both an oral presentation and a written plan that answers the question in the scenario. After preparation, the team must give an oral presentation justifying the decisions made by the team.

Ten samples will be identified by insect name, life cycle, economic impact and mouthpart. Participants will be given a core sample to determine the class and/or subclass of the wheat.

The participant's low scores will be counted and the participant with the highest number of low scores will be declared the winner. If there is still a tie, the event manager will rank the participant's answers to the questions. The participant with the highest number of low marks from the answers to the questions will be declared the winner.
The participant with the highest total raw points will be declared the winner.

Questions will be selected from a database of questions developed by the Creed Speaking Career Development Event Committee. Contestants will be allowed a close-up view of each cow as she is paraded near them. Two points will be awarded for each characteristic scored within four points of the official judges'. One point will be awarded for each attribute scored within five to six points of the official judges' score.
For classes on which oral arguments will be given, participants will be given a minimum of 15 minutes. Select those cows that will be the next five to calve, assuming breeding dates are accurate.
SAMPLE
Placing #2 over #4, the pedigree shows an advantage in overall PTPI (average of the father's TPI and the mother's CTPI) for #2. The TPI values for the mother and father of #2 are significantly higher than those for #4. The father's TPI value is higher, with PTAs higher in almost every category and the mother's transmission values in every category ( except FLC) are higher than that of #3's mother.
However, most transmission values are not as high as for #4's dam. Genetic values for dam #1 are not listed in the pedigree, but the PTPI for the heifer (pedigree) is given.
NATIONAL FFA DAIRY CATTLE EVENT
OBJECTIVE
To recognize the contribution of handlers in presenting each animal to its best advantage for dairy cattle participants in judging dairy cows and heifers during the National Dairy Cattle Career Development Event. Participants must be certified by the state advisor and meet the same membership rules as all other events held during the national FFA convention. A state may determine its dairy runner by one of the following methods: (a) Alternate member of the State Dairy Cattle Team, (b) lead driver at a state FFA event, and (c) any other method that prefers a state.
Keepers will not participate in either the preparation or final processing of assigned animals. Those selected as leaders report to the event supervisor for instructions at the time and place shown in the current year's "Program of State Events." It is important that all selected owners attend an informational/organizational meeting the day before the National Dairy Cattle Career Development Event and report on time the day of the event.
DAIRY CATTLE HANDLERS ’

Develop the ability to use knowledge about the composition and quality characteristics of raw and pasteurized milk. To develop an understanding of the causes and control of mastitis, its effects on milk quality and yield, and the use of mastitis detection methods in the disease control of abnormal milk production.

Eight samples of milk will be evaluated for abnormality, using the California Mastitis Test method. All four members will be scored and all scores will count towards the total team score. The National FFA officers and National Board of Directors will be in charge of this event.
Participants will be assigned group leaders who will escort them to the various event venues. All participants will receive an identification number with which they will be marked throughout the event.

Teams will be required to give an oral presentation justifying the decisions made by the team. Teams will have to answer questions related to the decision their team made. Students will be equipped with a Global Positioning System (GPS) unit and a map with points marked in longitude and latitude.
Students will be equipped with a scoreboard; interpretation guide and pre-excavated earth or core/monolith for judgment. National FFA Extemporaneous Speaking Career Development Event The event will be limited to one participant from each state association.

Team composition- A team consists of three or four members. A team score consists of the total of the top three individual scores on the written exam plus the team score on the team activity. The team activity evaluates the ability of a team's members to work together to use decision-making and problem analysis skills while applying economic principles and concepts taught in farm business management. The team activity involves the use of farm business management skills and the resource information used for the written examination of the current year's event.
All topics in the outline under the event objectives section can be included in the team activity. The team activity is worth 300 points per team and is only included in the team score.

Microcomputers can be included as a tool to complete any of the sections of the event. It can be used to determine the future value of the amount you now have. MARKETING- All the processes and services involved in moving a good from the producer to the final consumer.

Each participant is given 50 minutes to complete this phase of the event. Each correct solution is worth 20 points. The participants get five minutes to dialogue with the customer and fill in the sales slip. 10 minutes will be given to complete this practice, including judging potted plant cuttings.
Twenty minutes will be allowed for each participant to make his/her dish garden and complete the itemized bill. Ten minutes will be allowed for the completion of this practicum, including the evaluation of the participant's performance at the end of the practicum.

Each participant will receive ten (10) photos of potential food safety and/or hygiene issues. Any violation of this rule will be sufficient to disqualify the team from the competition. 50 targeted multiple-choice questions will be selected from areas of the forestry industry that are reflected in the goals of the event.

Letter should be addressed to the Superintendent of the Career Development Event and dated for the first day of the event. Students will be provided with computers with word processing applications to compose and type a follow-up letter. Participant's low ranks will be counted and the participant with the highest number of low ranks will be declared the winner.
The participant with the greatest number of low scores from the answer to the question will be declared the winner. When new criteria are adopted, information will be forwarded to all states by January 1 of the event year by the National FFA Teacher Services Specialist responsible for career development events.
