He defends the Christian faith against the idolatry in that city. 1 Loveday Alexander, "The Acts of the Apostles as an Apologetic Text," in Apologetics in the Roman Empire: Pagans, Jews, Christians, ed. It will also present the results of the project and compare them with the objectives.

A vital part of the project was to recruit at least ten pastors and chaplains (priests in training assigned to a church) serving in the Atlantic District.

Each lesson was designed to last approximately forty minutes.4 The lessons contained more printed information than could be covered in a limited amount of time. At least 25 percent of the lesson time was intended for participants to practice creating apologetic illustrations based on specific biblical texts. The panel used a rubric to evaluate and make recommendations.6 According to the rubric, panelists rated the curriculum for biblical accuracy, scope, teaching methodology, and usefulness.

For biblical accuracy, the panelists evaluated whether each teaching was sound in its interpretation of Scripture and faithful to the theology of the Bible. In terms of scope, the panelists assessed whether the curriculum content adequately covered each issue it was designed to address, and whether the curriculum adequately covered apologetic illustrations. For teaching methodology, panelists assessed whether each lesson was clear, had a broad idea of apologetic illustrations, and provided opportunities for participant interaction with the material.

In terms of usability, panelists assessed whether the curriculum clearly detailed how to identify and answer apologetic questions in text and context, and whether participants would be able to use apologetic illustrations at the end of the course. The curriculum clearly outlines how to identify and answer apologetic questions in text and context. This goal was considered successfully achieved when at least 90 percent of the evaluation criteria reached or exceeded a sufficient level.

This target was achieved with 92 per cent of the original curriculum achieving a sufficient or exemplary level. With his help, we developed the following heuristics, which the participants used several times during the practice of developing an apologetic illustration: "They say", "The Bible says", "I say". They say: Unbelievers say that with all the suffering in the world, a good and loving God does not exist.

The Bible says: There is much suffering in the world, but God exists and provides rich resources for those who suffer, including his Son and his death on the cross. Paul, one who has experienced much suffering, points us to some powerful and rich Christian resources in the text. That this heuristic, which was not in the originally evaluated curriculum, helped enable participants to develop, use, and present apologetics.

The first objective was to assess the participants' current preaching practice regarding the use of apologetic illustrations in their sermons, and this objective was successfully achieved, with 39 percent of the 120 sermons having an apologetic illustration. Another goal was to develop an eight-hour seminar to teach the use of apologetic illustrations in preaching, and this goal was successfully met, with 92 percent of the initial curriculum achieving a sufficient or exemplary level. I will also discuss the pros and cons of the project and what I would have done differently.

The purpose of the project, to train ministers in using apologetic illustrations in sermons, is very important to those who listen to sermons. After completing the project, I was more convinced of this goal than before the implementation of the project. The first aim was to assess the participants' current preaching practice with regard to the use of apologetic arguments in.

Second, I did not anticipate that participants would respond “agree” or “strongly agree” to most of the pretest survey questions. The pre-test survey scores were so high that there was little room for growth after the survey. Apparently, the third goal was not necessary for the purpose of the project, because the fourth goal is more about attitude.

The fourth goal was to increase the use of mock sermon illustrations in preaching by 25 percent. Another strength of the project was the use of the Heuristic, They Say, The Scriptures Say, I Say. This sustained duration can have a long-term impact on the preaching of some participants.

Apologetic topics consumed about two-thirds of the time, and one-third of the time was left to discuss and practice apologetic illustrations. A fifty-fifty split of time between apologetics and illustrations would have given more time to the development of illustrations. At the beginning of the project, I didn't give much information about the fake illustrations because it might have prematurely influenced their preaching.
