I dedicate this project to my wife, Jill-Curry, whom I describe as the "heart" of our family. In many ways, this project has been ten years in the making, as our marriage has been an instrument through which God formed my heart and my leadership. First Baptist Church of Cleveland, Mississippi, is a constant source of love for my family and their prayerful support in all my ministry endeavors.

He has been committed to sharpening me as a brother for many years and was the person who first suggested I pursue a DMin.

INTRODUCTION

First, because many in the church may not understand that caring for orphans is work. Third, equipping families to participate in foster care and adoption provides a clear opportunity for Christians to participate in the Church's mission of caring for orphans. The first objective was to assess understanding of the church's role in orphan care and current attitudes toward local foster care and adoption among FBCFP members.

The broad scope of the teaching series was to expose FBCFP to God's care for the orphan, the gospel. Orphan care goes further than just caring for the 'orphan' in the strict sense of the word. Especially relevant in the context is Paul's use of the adoption metaphor, that Christians are adopted sons of God.

Extending help to the orphan and the widow is a reflection and imitation of God's character. Christians will constantly find themselves in the presence of those whom Jesus intends as objects of the church's mission. Whether it is living out the imagery from the gospel of adoption (Romans 8:14-17) or spreading care to.

The purpose of this chapter is to identify the role of the church in caring for orphans. Finally, this chapter will determine the role of church leaders in carrying out the ministry of orphan care and its integration into the ministry of the church. The Church sees the plight of the orphan and, in the light of the Gospel and God's clear order, commits itself to merciful service in order to be part of God's salvation.

The redemptive story of the gospel is the most fundamental motivation for caring for orphans. First, the ministry of orphan care must align with the overall mission and vision of the church. The first goal was to gain insight into the role of the church in orphan care and the current attitudes towards local foster care and adoption among church members.

The second took place during week 17. Five families participated

In the meeting, a brief introduction was given of the current and soon-to-be foster families in FBCFP. Foster families were also made aware of the FBCFP foster care box and the resources available to them. The effectiveness of the project rested primarily on two components: the five-session orphan care education series and the implementation of a ministry plan for potential foster and/or adoptive families.

As a result of the teaching series, participants increased their knowledge of orphan care and five families started and completed foster care. The purpose of this chapter is to evaluate the scope and stated goals of the project. During the course of the project, five families started and completed their foster care certification.

Overall, the success of each of the four goals shows the great success the project has achieved. For this subset of survey questions, the teaching sequence cannot be shown to have made a difference in participants' attitudes. Part of the project's success was influencing understanding and attitudes so that families explore and commit to fostering or adoption.

In the weeks I conducted the post-tests, many of the original participants were not present. This scenario would be ideal for the best conclusions about the effectiveness of the teaching sessions. The third part of the OCA is a qualitative assessment of theological understanding and individual motivation regarding Christians and orphan care.

What have been your main biblical insights over the course of the Orphan Care series?

MINISTRY PLAN

Commitment

  • Why Foster Care?
  • Assessing Your Situation
  • Answering Questions
  • Addressing Fears
  • Prayer

Permanence in the home is a unique, worthy purpose toward which all church efforts are directed. In foster care, the certification process for families is relatively short, and after the certification process, families can immediately begin to intervene in the lives of vulnerable children and their families. Compared to global and domestic adoptions, with foster care, the time for the child to arrive at the home is significantly faster, and the financial obligations are immeasurably smaller.

Foster care also offers the opportunity not only to care for children, but also to work with families on their recovery. The following questions are helpful for families to ask when assessing their readiness to become a foster or adoptive family.2. 2 Ideas adapted from: Jason Johnson, “Ten Questions Couples Should Ask Before Becoming Foster Parents,” Jason Johnson Blog, accessed December 2, 2019, http://jasonjohnsonblog.com/blog/ten-questions-.

This section of the ministry plan is not written, but it is helpful for families to express their questions. Families will have a space to openly express their fears and doubts, and their feelings will be treated as legitimate. Affirm the role of the faith community and remind the family to lean on their community.

Family Preparation and Certification

Foster Care Certification in Alabama

Once you have completed all the steps, wait for approval from the State of Alabama. Transportation: Maintain a valid driver's license and motor vehicle insurance, as required by law, for vehicles transporting children and provide proof of insurance and a valid driver's license to DHR. In addition, if babies are to be placed at home, there are additional guidelines regarding cribs.

Cleanliness: The apartment building must be clean in general and maintained in order to prevent and/or eliminate rodent and insect infestation. Garbage and outdoor debris should be stored in containers with lids, and trash and debris should be removed at intervals to avoid creating a nuisance or health threat. Support

FBCFP Foster Care “Closet”

Families from FBCFP who take in new foster children are contacted by a church volunteer to offer them access to whatever resources are available. SUPPORTIVE CARE: Support providers take care of either foster children or other children in the foster home, so that the family can spend time away from home, or give special 1-on-1 attention to the needs of a particular child. They can also help with transporting foster children to visits, school and other activities.

Do you have other ways you would like to serve or support foster children and their foster families. Do you have other friends or family that you would like to be on your “W” team. Do you have friends in your small group or community who want to be a part of your “R”.

Do you have regularly scheduled activities for which you may want or need childcare? Do you have specific childcare needs for your children (transport to/from school, doctor, consultation appointments or family visits). What do you see as your biggest challenge(s) once you get home with your foster placement?

Should you be interested in having your "A" team help with a birthday party for your foster children if they are still living with you at that time. If you have other children in the home, what are their concerns if they are expecting or welcoming a new child into the family.

T-TEST RESULTS

Our identity is rooted in our adoption as children of God through the work of Jesus. The work of the Spirit is such that you experience your adoption as sons as personal, intimate, real and transformative. The "Spirit of Adoption" is a Holy Spirit-inspired perspective on our lives and our identity.

Not every Christian will adopt or foster, but every church and every Christian has a role in orphan care. Keller Quote: Realize the importance of the Bible writers introducing God as a 'Father to the fatherless; a defender of widows'..This is. Wrap Up: Please respond by committing to learning how to be part of an orphan care ecosystem at our church.
