The
specimen,which is 50 millimetres in total length (caudal included),is a maturefemale,having in the abdominalcavity msiTijlarge eggs.Description.

The bodyis thick, subcylindrical anteriorly, rapidly tapering to thetail,covered with athick lax integument; itsgreatest height(.25)equals the lengthOx"thehead andisone-fourth ofthetotal lengthofthebodywithoutcaudal.The
head is somewhat tumescent at the nape; itsheight(overthe ventral discandeyes)contained something oversixtimesinthe length ofthebody; itsgreatestwidth(.18)veryslightly greaterandequaling twice the widthofthe ventral disc. The snoutisbroad, with promi- nentverticalprofile; itslength aboutone-fourth that ofthe head. Thecleftofthemouthishorizontal,anddoes not extendtothe perpendicu- larfrom the anterior margin ofthe orbit. The lips are covered with thick lax skin,the upperjawextendingbeyondthe lower.
Thelength oftheupperjawisabout one-third ofthe length ofthe head; that of themandibleslightly greaterthanthelengthoftheven- tral disc. Each jaw armedwith abandof villiformteeth. Thetongue
isthick, obtuse. Theeyeislateral,not interferingwith theui)per pro- fileofthe head; itsdiameter(.07)morethanone-fourth ofthe lengthof the head,andcoutained about fourteen timesinthelengthofthel)ody.
The
widthofthe interorbital areaiscontainedtwo andone-halftimes inthe lengthofthehead. Thenostril is close to the eye.The
gill- openingisavertical slit,extendingupontheupper partoftheroot of thepectoral.The dorsalfinisinserted atadistance from the snout equaltoone- thiixl ofthe length ofthe body. Itcontainsabout 48rays,thoughto countthemisalmostimpossible. Theanalfin originates at a distance from the snout equalto two-fifths of thelengthofthe body,andinthe perpendicular fromthe eighthdorsal ray. Itcontains at least48rays.
The pectoral fin is moderately broad, with 15 long rays and12 or 13 shorter ones.
The
long rays aretwice as longastheventral discand extend nearlyor quite to theperpendicular from thevent.Theventral disc is slightlylonger (.10) than its distance from the snout(.00),whichprecisely equalsitswidth. Ithasfourteen papilkT.
Thecolorisuniformwhitish,almostcolorless,andtranslucent inlife.
