ABSTRACT

Background: Nursing students are a group that advocates for nursing work. When nursing students practice, high levels of stress and anxiety will lead to ineffective nursing skills and decrease spiritual well-being. Research purpose: 1) To study the situation, problems, causes, and approaches for learning management on wards to promote clinical nursing practice behaviors and spiritual well-being of nursing students 2) To develop a design thinking program to promote clinical nursing practice behaviors and spiritual well-being of nursing students. Methodology: a sequential mixed-method design includes phase 1 a qualitative approach and followed by phase 2 a quasi-experimental approach. Instrument: 1) Demographics questionnaire 2) Spiritual well-being questionnaire 3) Clinical nursing behavior practice questionnaire. Population and sample: Phase 1 nursing students, nurse lecturer and nurse mentors about 10-15 people until the data will be saturated. Phase 2 nursing students at university in Bangkok. Simple random sampling randomly will be drawn until the sample reach 60 people, an experimental group of 30 people and a control group of 30 people. The sample size was calculated using the effect size formula using the G*Power program. Analysis: Phase 1: Qualitative phase with content analysis and phase 2:

Descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, and mean) and inferential statistics by using 2-way MANCOVA). The level of significance 0.05 will be used for all the tests with two-sided p values.

Results: A design thinking program to promote clinical practice behaviors and spiritual well-being will be completed or creative. The experimental group may have higher mean scores on clinical nursing behaviors practice and spiritual well-being than the control group.

Keywords: design thinking, nursing practice behaviors, spiritual well-being, nursing students
