Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah penggunaan pendekatan saintifik efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan menulis siswa di SMAN 3 Kulisusu. Berdasarkan temuan dan pembahasan penelitian ini, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa Pendekatan Saintifik efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan menulis siswa kelas X di SMAN 3 Kulisusu Kabupaten Buton Utara. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah penggunaan pendekatan saintifik efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan menulis siswa di SMAN 3 Kulisusu.

Alhamdulillah, all praise be to Allah, the only power, the Lord of the universe, the master of the Day of Judgment, God the Almighty, for all the blessings and mercies so that the researcher was able to finish this thesis, and peace and blessings are directed to the last chosen religious messengers, prophet Muhammad SO like his followers in this world. The researcher received advice and guidance from a number of people from various participants in the process of preparation and completion of this thesis. The researcher wishes to say the greatest thanks to her parents (Mr.Hamsir and Mrs.Sarmawati) who give the best support, prayers and sacrifices during her life.

Scientific approach is a concept of teaching and learning that has a scientific background to the teaching and learning method. Students feel less frustration because they feel that their English writing is improving based on the activities they do in the next steps of Scientific Approach. Based on the background above, the researcher was interested in conducting a research titled "The Effectiveness of Using Scientific Approach To Enhance Students' Writing Ability at SMA Negeri 3 Kulisusu".

Based on the above background, the researcher formulated the research question as follows: “Is the scientific approach effective for the improvement of students”. In relation to the above problem statements, the aim of this research was to determine the effectiveness of using a scientific approach to improve the writing skills of students at SMA Negeri 3 Kulisus. The result of this research should be useful information about the effectiveness of using a scientific approach in teaching writing.

The scientific approach has five steps in implementation, they are observation, questioning, experimentation, association and communication. Specifically, this research focused on students' ability to write descriptive text using scientific approach in SMA Negeri 3 Kulisusu.

Learning using the scientific method or scientific approach is able to create an atmosphere of active learning and can make students think more creatively and innovatively in the face of the material being taught (Hartono 2014). The implementation of the 2013 curriculum has its own character that is student-centered (student-centered) learning and uses the scientific approach in the learning process, it cannot necessarily be easily applied to teachers in all schools. It involves the process of scientific skills in the construction of the concept or principle of the material.

This step is the attempt of the students to try or explore the knowledge to internalize knowledge and skills just observed in the form of understanding. In the second stage of the writing phase, the writer focuses on the fluency of writing with grammatical precision. The next phase, after the students have finished, is the writing of the evaluation students.

Accuracy refers to students' correct use of the language system, including their use of grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary. Vocabulary is the most important element in choosing the right words in writing, and the ultimate goal of the writing process is to arrange words into good sentences.

Quantitative data is needed to know the growth of students' writing ability in pre-test and post-test. Based on table 4.2 above, it results that the average score of the students in the pretest was 2.2. Based on table 4.3 above, it results that the average score of the students in the pretest was 1.5.

Based on table 4.4 above, it showed that the average score for the students in the pretest was 1.7. Based on Table 4.5 above, the mean pretest score of the students in the experimental group was 20.2. This meant that the average score for the students in the Experimental group has improved, namely 70.7.

FINDINGS AND DISCUSSIONS

Findings

After that, the researcher gave treatment using the Scientific Approach and the students' writing test result showed that the combination of topic and details in terms of writing content became better. The students' average score became 3.4 which means that the improvement was 88.8% compared to the pre-test result. These data proved that the use of Scientific Approach in writing can improve students' writing skills, seen from the content.

The percentage of students' improvement between the pre-test and the post-test was 58.09%, which means that the scientific approach helped to improve the students' writing organization. Based on the percentage data of the pre-test, the ability of students in the experimental group pre. Based on the result, it can be concluded that the percentage rate in the posttest was higher than the percentage rate before the test.

The researcher taught students by using the natural approach as the conventional approach in the control group to see the improvement of students' content and organization in writing descriptive text. Most of the students felt confused when trying to identify and provide a description based on the topic. After the researcher performed the treatment using the conventional, natural approach, the students' score improved.

Based on the result, it can be concluded that the rate percentage in the post-test was higher than the rate percentage in the pre-test.

Discussion

The improvement percentage showed that the use of Scientific Approach to teach English especially improved writing ability in term content and organization. The result showed that the students' writing ability improved especially in content and organization after the application of Scientific Approach in the experimental class. The effects of using scientific approach to improve the students' speaking ability in the eleventh grade of SMA Muhammadiyah Raha.

CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION

Conclusion

Based on the researcher's findings and discussion in the previous chapter and looking at the results of the study, the researcher concluded that using the scientific approach was effective in improving students' writing skills. This was evidenced by the mean post-test score between the experimental group and the control group.
