STATEMENT OF ORIGINALITY

Here with I declare that the research paper I wrote as partial fulfillment of the requirement for the Sarjana degree and submitted to English Education Department, the Faculty of Education and Letters wholly constitutes my own original scientific writing.

As for the other persons' works whose ideas quoted in this paper have been referred to appropriately in accordance to the prevailing legal and intellectual ethic in the world of scientific writing tradition.

However, if the originality of this paper either partially or wholly is, later on, proved or it falls under convincing plagiarism, I would be prepared to receive any consequences in the form of any sanction such as losing my related academic degree obtained from the institution as well as other rules prevailing in Indonesia.

Lilis Rosita Jamil. 181230140. 2022. The Effectiveness Of English Self- Video Recording Using Recount Text To Developing Speaking Ability In Senior High School. (A Quasi-Experimental Study at the Tenth Grade Students of SMK Semesta in Academic Year 2022/2023)

This study aims to measure the effectiveness of using English self-video recordings on students' speaking skills on recount text. This study employed quasi-experimenta method with population was the tenth grade students of SMK Semesta. The number of samples in this study was 60 students who were selected through simple random sampling technique. This sample was divided into two groups, Class X1 as the experimental group and Class X2 as the control group. The data were obtained from some research instruments such as pre-test, post-test, interview as well as classroom observation. Pre- test was given before treatment and post-test was given after treatment. Data from pre-test and post-test of both groups were analyzed statistically by using t-test formula. The results compared tt with t0 at the 5% significance level were 1.67 showed that t0 tt or 3.83 > 1.67. The t-test indicates that Ha or alternative hypothesis were accepted and H0 or null hypothesis were rejected, in other word that there is an influence of using English self video recording on recount text. The post-test average score for the experimental class was 70.9, while the average post-test score for the control class was 65. It showed that both classes experienced an increase in the post test score. In addition, Cohen's results formulation is 0.99. It shows that has strong effect of using English self video recording on recount text to developing students' speaking ability. It can be concluded that the use of English video recordings using recount texts can affect students' speaking ability in the tenth grade of SMK Semesta.

A BRIEF BIOGHRAPHY

The writer, Lilis Rosita Jamil, was born in Tangerang on April 20th, 2000 and currently lives in Bogor. She is the third child of 4 siblings of parents named H. Maman and Hj. Siti Rosidah.

The writer took her education starting from the elementary school at SDN Rahayu Tangerang, Banten in 2006 to 2012, whereas her junior and senior high school were respectively finished at Raudhatut Tauhid Islamic Boarding School, Bogor, Jawa Barat in 2015 and 2018. She continued her education program of English Education Department, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training at the State Islamic University of Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten.

Praise and gratitude the author prays for the presence of Allah SWT and thanks to both parents who always pray for him. With high motivation, he continues to try and learn about many things, and does not forget to be grateful to Allah SWT for everything.
