Si Luisito Cagandahan Abueg ay

nagtapos ng BS Economics (cum laude) sa Unibersidad ng Pilipinas Los Baños, at MA Economics sa Unibersidad ng Pilipinas Diliman. Natapos na rin ang coursework at seminar para sa PhD Mathematics mula sa naturang pamantasan.

Nakilala siya sa kanyang rebyu sa mga aklat sa ekonomiks sa Pilipinas na pinamagatang A review of high school economics in the Philippines: 1902-2005 (Philippine Journal of Development [2007]). Isa rin sa kanyang mga paksang tinalakay ay ang The economics of secondhand retail trade: an analysis of the market for ukay-ukay (Philippine Journal of Development [2005]) na nagkaroon ng feature episode sa I- Witness, GMA 7 noong 2014, at interview sa ANC News Channel noong 2018.

Naging kabahagi rin ang may-akda ng mga institusyong gaya ng International Labour Organisation (Manila Office), World Bank (Manila Office), Asian Development Bank (Headquarters), Phiippine Institute for Development Studies, at ng Institute of Philippine Culture ng Pamantasang Ateneo de Manila.
