INTRODUCTION

Identification of Problem

Limitation of Problem

The problem of this research is formulated as follows: "Is there any positive and significant effect of using possible sentence strategy on students' reading comprehension of tenth graders at MA Walisongo?". This research is used to describe the students' reactions to possible sentence material that the teacher uses in the lesson.

Prior Research

The similarity between this study and other previous research is in the form of similarities in the English language skills studied and the teaching strategies used in the research process. The difference between this study and other previous research is in the form of differences in the research sample, research method and instruments used. This research will investigate the reading comprehension of the tenth grade students at MA Walisongo as a research sample, while the second preliminary research will investigate the students of Dededo High School as a research sample.

THEORITICAL REVIEW

Definition of Reading Comprehension

Therefore, the aim is to gain a general understanding of what is described in the text rather than to derive meaning from isolated words or sentences.5. Furthermore, Caroline Clapham for reading comprehension is the product of the processes that operate during reading to create a mental repetition of the situation described in the text.6.

Strategies for Reading Comprehension

The researcher used the documentation method to get detailed information about, condition of teachers and official employee, the amount of students and the structural organization of MA Walisongo. To identify the students' reading comprehension of the tenth grade of MA Walisongo, the researcher applied reading comprehension. The validity of a measure is the extent to which it measures what you want to measure.5 The researcher will use content validity to measure whether the test has good validity or not.

The research conducted a pretest in the first meeting of this research to find out the students' prior knowledge of reading comprehension before the treatment. Based on the result of the post-test result of students from MA Walisongo Central Lampung above, it can be concluded that possible sentence strategy can help students in reading comprehension. They were also active in class during the presentation of the material, using possible sentence strategy.

This research also clarified that the theory of the effect of using possible sentence strategy on students' reading comprehension at grade ten of MA Walisongo Central Lampung. Based on the result of the research, the researcher can conclude that possible sentence strategy had a positive and significant effect, so possible sentence strategy was an effect on students' reading comprehension at grade ten of MA Walisongo Central lampung. Model of Reading Comprehension

Type of Reading

It is believed that the great amount of interest in reading is ensured by a happy combination of reading aloud by learners, reading aloud by the teacher and silent reading by the learners. Basically, extended reading is silent reading, but is done outside the class, so that language learners have less problems with extended reading, the teacher must first explain difficult passages or new words.

Teaching Reading Comprehension

Every language learner should be expected to read at least one book in the target language. Based on the explanations above, the teacher can use many methods or strategies to help the student understand the text in teaching reading comprehension.

The measurement of Reading Comprehension

The result of the pre-test (experimental class) in tenth graders of MA Walisongo Central Lampung. Based on the frequency distribution in the table and graph above, it can be concluded that 26 students if the research sample can be divided first, the number of students scoring 64-72 was 1 student or 4%.

The concept of possible sentence startegy

  • Procedure of possible sentence
  • Benefit of possible sentence

Theoritical framework and paradigm

  • paradigm

Theoretical framework in this research is if possible sentence is used in English teaching, reading in the special reading comprehension in perfect will be good. Whereas, if the possible sentence is not used in the English teaching reading, the student will be poor and find some difficulties.

Hypothesis

  • Statistical Hypotheses
  • Independent variable
  • Dependent variable

This research contains two variables, the independent variable which is the possible sentence use (X) and the dependent variable which is the reading comprehension (Y). Moreover, based on the above explanation, in this research the researcher used the possible sentence strategy to conduct a treatment for the tenth grade students of MA Walisongo.

Population, sample and sampling technique

  • Sample
  • Sample technique

Then the researcher collected the data by using reading test to predict the word based on the text given without using possible sentence strategy. The researcher took the class XD and XC in this research because the researcher wants to know the students reading comprehension. The researcher uses class XD consisting of 26 students as the experimental class and XC consisting of 26 students as the control class.

In this case, the researcher will use a cluster sampling technique by randomizing the name of the class in some small roll papers. After the random process, the researcher took two small papers by this sampling technique process, the researcher knew the name of the class that investigated.

Data Collection technique

  • Observation
  • Documentation

Observation is another versatile approach to data collection.4 Observation causes you to forget data about children's activities, such as students paying attention during the learning process. Enthusiastically following the lesson, giving commands, performing the physical action correctly, the students' ability in questioning and answering, understanding the material given and the student's skill in reading comprehension.

Research Instrument

  • Instrument Calibration

The test consists of pre-test and post-test, this examination will be in the form of a multiple-choice test that asks the students to write a composition of descriptive text in English. The students can understand social functions, text structure and linguistic elements in the simple descriptive texts about people, tourist attractions and famous historical buildings, depending on the context of their use. Instrument calibration is the measurement scale used to determine the standard instrument to be used.

Content validity is about whether the test is sufficiently representative and comprehensive for the test. To get the content validity, the test adapts with the students' book, English syllabus and materials at the school based on the curriculum of tenth grades of MA Wali Songo.

Data analysis technique

To investigate whether there is any positive and significant effect of possible sentence strategy on students' reading comprehension in tenth graders from MA Walisongo Central Lampung. Frequency distribution as result (experimental class) of pretest in X.4 MA Walisongo Central Lampung. Frequency distribution as result (experimental class) of post-test in X MA Walisongo Central Lampung.

Frequency distribution as the result (control class) of pre-test in X.3 MA Walisongo Central Lampung. Ha) is accepted if there is any positive and significant effect of possible sentence strategy on student's reading comprehension at grade ten of MA Walisongo Central Lampung. This means that there is any positive and significant effect on students' reading comprehension at grade ten of MA Walisongo Central Lampung.

There is some positive and significant effect of potential sentence strategy on student reading comprehension in MA Walisongo tenth graders. There is no positive and significant effect of potential sentence strategy on student reading comprehension in MA Walisongo tenth graders. It means that there is a positive and significant effect of using potential sentence strategies on students' reading comprehension in the tenth graders of MA Walisongo Central Lampung.
