Theoritical Review

Previous Research Findings

The phenomenon in this study is the analysis of learning strategies used by students in the English conversation program at Sunan Gunung Jati Islamic Boarding School. In this study, the steps taken by researchers are. The researcher observed the students of the Sunan Gunung Jati Islamic boarding school when the English conversation program was carried out. In the last activity, the researcher reported the results in the form of writing a thesis on student learning strategies using the memorization strategy used in the students of the Sunan Gunung Jati Islamic Boarding School.

RESEARCH FINDING

General Data

The general data of this study can be seen as follows: a) History of Sunan Gunung Jati Islamic Boarding School. Sunan Gunung Jati Islamic Boarding School is an educational institution dealing with educational, social and religious affairs in Wonogiri Regency. Sunan Gunung Jati Islamic Boarding School is a boarding school that combines the scientific education system typical of Islamic boarding schools with the formal education system.

Sunan Gunung Jati Islamic Boarding School has two systems of integrated and complete educational institutions. In terms of management, it is indeed registered with the Muhammadiyah Educational Institution, but in terms of endowments, assets and teachers, it is managed by Sunan Gunung Jati Islamic Boarding School. So, since the establishment until now, MIM Gesing has become an MI assisted by Sunan Gunung Jati Islamic Boarding School.

So far, Sunan Gunung Jati Islamic School has graduated thousands of alumni from several of its educational institutions. This is the advantage of Sunan Gunung Jati Islamic Boarding School as an educational institution that produces quality generations of people much needed by society.63. Primary Data

In this part, the researchers conducted observations and interviews in Sunan Gunung Jati Islamic Boarding School to identify the implementation of English conversation program in Sunan Gunung Jati Islamic Boarding School. From the results of the observations in Sunan Gunung Jati boarding school's English conversation program, the students participated well in the activities and were very excited, and the teacher provided conversation materials in line with the students' daily life79. Then the results of the interview with teacher B, basically the lack of teachers in monitoring the language activities of the santri, so that when there is no teacher, the students use Indonesian. 34;I think there are some activities that are one of the strategies to overcome the problem of lack of vocabulary, which is memorizing and putting down vocabulary.” Have the students memorize the vocabulary and then make sentences and collect them, and the teacher checks the results. 116 students.

Then, the results of the interview with student B showed that with the existence of the strategy, the students were able to memorize the vocabulary117. Based on the results of the above interviews, the researcher can conclude that the strategies implemented by administrators and teachers are very suitable for promoting students' self-confidence.

Discussion

The activities in the conversation and speaking programs carried out will make students fluent in English because of the practice in the program. From this activity, it will be known how far the students' speaking skills have been developed. There are several problems and solutions that teachers and students face in the language program.

From the results of these interviews, the researcher can conclude that the problems experienced by the students are lack of motivation, this is because they have to adapt more to a new place. Then the results of the interview with teacher B are, in essence, the lack of teacher teachers in monitoring santri language activities, so that when there is no teacher, students use Indonesian. Based on the results of interviews with teachers and language administrators, there are several strategies to overcome the problems faced by students, especially the lack of vocabulary.

Students are asked to memorize the vocabulary and then make sentences and add them together and the teacher checks the students' results134. Then the results of the interview with student B, stated that with the existence of the strategy, the students were able to memorize the vocabulary135. Based on the result of the study, the researcher gives some recommendations to the following parties.
