ImpORT OF THE CmIMITTEE ON OBITUARIES.

DEAlt BHETHREX: The ,"cry ~olemn duty haR been assigned I1S, to speak of the deaths that ha.vc occurred among us the last Associational YC:lr. The statistics will inform YOI1 of the number of usefullivcs that have been taken from their earthly labors to their heavenly reward-whose places, in many in- stance", will be hard to Illl; )'l't one of them, Ephraim Perry, of the Cheohee Chnrch, from his adnUlct'd age, (in his 9Qth year,) and his Christian virtues and high traits of character, is entitled to more particular notice, making a public profe~sion of his I:lith in Christ, by uniting with the Baptist Church, when in youth, and carrying the principlcs of that faith through all the du- ties of life-as a husband, lather, neighbor, and citizen, :uHl as a Christiall, keeping hin"elf ullspotted from the world_

(7)

lITINUTES.

DEAR BRETIIREX, while we mourn oyer the dead, we do not mourn over them as the 10Rt, but our loss is their gain.

DEAl{ BRETHREN, we do not feel that we can close this notice without ex- pressing our gratitude to the Disposer of all things, for sparing so many usei'ul live;; among \lS, and especially so many veterans of the CrosH; who, by their appearance, arc weary in the work, bllt not weary of the work.

D. H. KENNEME{)R, Chairman.

REPORT OF THE CmIMITTEE OX SABBATH-SCHOOLS.

Your Committee on Sabbath-Schools beg leave to offer the following report;

"Ve are glad to learn that twenty-four of our Churches have had Sabbath- schools in operation during the year, and that God has blessed the labors of the Brethren in this direction, for many of the scholars have been led to J CRUS.

In view of' these facts we sec no reason why every Church should not have a live Sabbath-School. "Ve regret that many of'these Schools arc allowed to go into winter quarters, and we think it is mainly duc to the fact that many of' our chl1l'ch-buildings arc so uncomfortable that it is impossible for the children to endure the exposure. Therefore we recommend,

1. That our Brethren proyide a stove for each church, so that the Schools need not die in the winter.

2. \Ve urge the Brethren to encourage diligence and zeal in thi" blessed work.
