CALL FOR PAPERS FOR LECTURE SERIES

A series of seven lectures will be offered by I.U. with the support of the Ball Brothers Foundation, one each semester from Fall, 1983 through Fall, 1987, to highlight its bicentennial observance of the Federal Constitutional Convention of 1787. The Bicentennial Committee invites proposals for papers on topics having themes in the living Constitution or in the constitutional development of the country from late 18th century to the present. The competition is open to scholars of any discipline with the range of topics purposefully wide to attract an exciting variety of scholarly research.

Competition is open to members of the faculties of the statewide I.U. system, graduates of Indiana University, and graduates and faculties of colleges and universities in the state of Indiana. Honorarium of $4,000 awarded to each suc- cessful applicant will be paid in installments as each paper moves to comple- tion. Each lecture event contemplates several days on campus for a visiting participant.

The series will conclude with a symposium involving all of the lecturers and invited guests including nationally recognized academics. Selected papers from the series will be edited for publication in the fall of 1987.

Proposals for papers from 3,000 to 5,000 words in length are solicited. First round applications should be received by Sept. 1, 1982. Submit proposals to The Committee for the Bicentennial of the Federal Constitution of 1787, The Poynter Center, 410 N. Park Ave., Indiana University, Bloomington, IN 47405.

Questions may be referred to Judith Granbois, (812) 335-0262.
