innerbase of antennaebrown
; ocelliblack. Antennas rather long, yellowish-brown. Spiracles circular, dingy yellow. In the middle of each jointon the dorsal blue stripe is a double broadlyV-shaped mark,

outer long, curved, gradually tapering one, all rather thickly clothed with beautiful glassy, soft hairs,more
or less curved at tip.These
tubercles are easily detached,and seem
to havetheir rootpartly in thedusky
spot along the upperside of the dorsal region and partly in theV-shaped mark
along the medio-dorsal.Those
from the prothoracic joint [/. e.joint3 or'4?]and
from the analand
penultimatejoints [12 and 13]are straighter than thosefrom the sides, andare directed either anteriorly or posteriorly.The
tubercles produce a
most
beautiful vitaline effect.The
creature, as itmoves, seems to be onemass
of delicate flossof finely spun glass, almost asbroad aslong.The
surface of the body, under a highpower,
isseen to be minutelygranulated."Two
deadand
dilapidated larvagwere
preserved in alcohol.The
better of these possesses the subdorsalhornsonlyon
joints 3,12,
and
13; the lateral ones are nearlyallpresent, atleast on one side,seeming
to be on segments3,4,6-12.The
arrangement is either as inPhobetron or Calybia, the specimens are toopoor totell
which
; but the lateral horns are longand
functional, though shorterthan the subdorsals.They
are but little subordinated, thusshowing
this larva tobeamore
generalized type thaneither of theknown
genera of the " tropic hairy Eucleids."As
to the probableimago
of this interesting larva, a guesswould

ardous.

second Phobetron-likemoth
isknown
north of Florida.One would
be inclined to suggestMonolenca
semi- fascia if the general characters of this species did not ratherimply an affinity with Euclea.
