Impact of Information Technology Mindfulness on Employee Well-being and Technological Stress among Media Agency Employees

ABSTRACT

The new-normal remote working causes employees to rely on technology and computer tools and results in negative employee well-being and technological stress. Although previous studies have reported the effects of mindfulness on employee well-being and reducing stress, none have focused on the mindfulness of technological construct or IT mindfulness. The current research examines the interrelationship of the three psychological constructs: IT mindfulness as moderating variable, technostress as the independent variable, and employee well-being as the dependent variable. The research will be quantitative, following a survey-based approach by developing online questionnaires as a data generation method and using SEM as a data analysis tool. The four scales are the Technostress Creator scale, the IT Mindfulness scale, the Positive and Negative Affectivity Scale, and the Job Satisfaction Scale. The samples comprise 300 media agency employees in Bangkok who are heavy IT users. By doing the moderation analysis, the result will show the different impact levels of each among the four predictors, alertness to distinction (AD), awareness of multiple perspectives (AP), openness to novelty (ON), and orientation to the present (OP), from high significant, low significant, and no significant, to affect employee well-being and technostress. The study will provide insights to enhance employee well-being, one of the most desired career goals. The result will benefit the organization by giving a proven guideline to cope with the significantly growing issues.
