One of the studies was conducted by Fatuni'mah on teaching reading retelling text through PQ4R strategy in ninth grade students of SMP NU Ma'arif Jatinegara in the academic year of. The result of the research showed that the PQ4R strategy made the students' retelling text reading results improve well, and it made the students active in the learning process. Therefore, in line with the explanations above, the researcher would like to do a research on "The implementation of teaching reading through PQ4R strategy at Eighth of MTSN 7 JEMBER in the Academic Year of 2022/. 9 Fatuni'mah, The teaching of reading retelling text through PQ4R strategy in ninth grade students of SMP NU Ma'arif Jatinegara in the academic year 2015/2016.

The result of this research can support the existing theory related to PQ4R strategy and reading retell text.

RESEARCH FINDINGS AND DISCUSSION

Research Findings

The subject of this research was carried out in MTsN 7 Jember, located in WR. According to one of its founders, Dr. Nasrul Syamsi, the purpose of establishing this madrasah is to produce intelligent, obedient, morally upright Muslim individuals who have a great responsibility for the spread and development of Islam in various places/regions, especially Umbulsari village and its surrounding areas. 34; the realization of individuals who are loyal, knowledgeable and moral."

And for additional material, the teacher has prepared several reading sheets that are included in the lesson plan so that students can have more reading. Based on an interview with the teacher and students of MTsN 7 Jember about the evaluation of teaching reading with the PQ4R strategy, the researcher summarized that the English teacher MTsN 7 Jember used formative evaluation, which was carried out during the course activities, in order to observe and learn about the students' gap during the teaching process learning. The researcher found that when the teacher started the learning process, the teacher first explained the given material.

Also, the teacher assigned short-answer tasks to measure students' knowledge of the given material. Based on the above observation, interview and document review, the researcher concluded that the teacher used formative assessment where the teacher evaluated the students' project during the teaching and learning process.

Discussion

Based on the findings, some objectives of teaching reading through PQ4R strategy were found which were delivered by the teacher. Improving the students' reading comprehension through the use of PQ4R strategy up to the eighth grade at SMP NEGERI 2 Pancur batu.”. There are some materials related to teaching reading through PQ4R strategy at MTsN 7 Jember that the researcher found, they were:.

In this part, the researcher discussed how the English teacher implemented the PQ4R strategy to teach reading skills in the eighth grade in MTsN 7 Jember. According to Harley, one of the best strategies that can be applied in teaching reading is called the PQ4R strategy. There were several goals of teaching reading through the PQ4R strategy that was achieved by the researcher in the eight classes of MTsN 7 Jember.

There are some materials for teaching reading through PQ4R strategy in eight classes of MTsN 7 Jember. The researcher concluded that there were some steps for teaching reading through PQ4R strategy in eight grades of MTsN 7 Jember. The researcher concluded that evaluation of literacy teaching through PQ4R strategy conducted using formative evaluation.

Conclusion

These were: 1) students could apply the social functions in the recount text, 2) students could identify the structures in the recount text, 3) students could use the language elements in the recount text. They were: 1) evaluation of attitude 2) evaluation of knowledge including answering the short answer task 3) evaluation of skills including student performance.

Suggestion

It can enrich the insight of the PQ4R strategy and it was expected that it can explore the implementation of the PQ4R strategy in all kinds of English knowledge through the detailed steps implemented.
