Talking about the environment not only where students read, but role and peer can affect students' reading comprehension ability. Implementation of the Process Reading Strategy through Instagram Media to improve students' reading comprehension ability in the 8th grade of SMPN 2 Lubuk Pakam 2. Implementation of the Process Reading Strategy through Instagram to improve students' reading comprehension ability of reading in the 8th grade of SMPN 2 Lubuk Pakam.

Does Instagram media effectively improve students' reading comprehension in 8th grade SMPN 2 Lubuk Pakam. The researcher formulates the objective of the study to "find out the improvement of the student's reading comprehension ability using Instagram media assisted reading strategy in 8th grade SMPN 2 Lubuk Pakam". For teachers, the results of this study are expected to discover the appropriate media in the reading teaching strategy to improve students' reading comprehension.

For students, it is expected that the result of this study will facilitate the students to improve their ability in reading comprehension.

Snow divides the element that interacts and involves itself in reading comprehension into three parts. Reading comprehension is a complex process between identifying printed symbols and interpreting the meaning behind these symbols (Dennis, 2008). According to Dennis (2008), the development of reading comprehension largely depends on the students' interest and desire.

He argued that vocabulary has an impact on reading comprehension because readers need decoding skills to understand the pronunciation and meaning of unfamiliar words. Poor reading comprehension skills may be associated with health problems that are not treated until the child is older (Hollowell, 2013).

Recognizing, understanding, analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating are the steps of critical reading, which allow the reader to discover the full meaning of the reading material, including clear and implied meanings. So, critical reading is a reading strategy that is able to process the reading material, both explicit and implicit, in order to be able to provide a review or evaluation of the writing being read. The purpose of critical reading is to discover the facts contained in the reading and then provide an evaluation of that fact.

In addition, readers must have extensive background experience and in-depth knowledge of a discussion that will arise during reading, because in critical reading the reader will analyze, compare, and judge. Based on the understanding of critical reading put forward by experts, it can be concluded that critical reading is a reading strategy that aims to assess written works by engaging with the reading material so that a correct and appropriate analysis can be made . The first benefit is that we can truly understand that critical reading involves digging deeper into the reading material and attempting to find reasons why the author said what he did.

The second benefit, Critical reading is essential for students to be successful in their academic endeavors. Critical reading requires the reader to be able to decipher the implied meanings in the text, as opposed to reading comprehension, which simply calls for the reader to understand what is being read. The benefits of critical reading can be derived from the previous explanation, especially by understanding and analyzing reading content to gain confidence so that it is more stable in providing support or criticism of reading content.

Soedarso in Agustina (2008) says that critical reading techniques can be done in the following way. Readers must compare the author's intent with what they already know from reading other authors in order to fully understand it. Based on the aforementioned perspectives, it can be concluded that the use of critical reading strategies includes understanding the content of the text, searching for the author's sources, engaging with the reader, and being receptive to the author's ideas.

Before uploading photos or videos, users can also enter a title or description of the photo, depending on what's on the users' minds. The users can also tag the title of the photo, as a sign to classify the photos into a category. Using the camera via Instagram, existing effects can also be used directly to adjust the photo coloring that the user wants.

When applying effects, users can also edit photos at the same time, such as adjusting brightness. Users can insult other users not only in photo captions, but also in photo comments. Hashtag is a code that allows users to easily search for the photo using keywords.

The tag itself can be used in any form of communication involving the photograph itself. Users can enter their name, the place where the photo was taken, announce an event, indicate that the photo was entered into a contest, or indicate that the photo was created by a member of the Instagram community. When sharing these photos, users can not only share them on Instagram, but can also share them through other social networks like Facebook and Twitter by linking their Instagram account to others.

The purpose of reading instruction is basically to give students the knowledge and ability to master reading techniques and capture the content of the reading properly and correctly. The researcher selects the Instagram account @aarons.english and @agusbacakilat as the media that can be used to improve students' reading skills, as all posts and captions are in English. Since the researcher in the background has explained that the primary reason why students have difficulty understanding texts is due to a lack of vocabulary, in addition to the fact that there is also a lot of content from the @aarons.english account that can be used in reading comprehension lessons.

Previous Study

The difference between previous study above with this study lies in the object of research, research methods, data collection tools and Instagram accounts used. The research objects in the previous research above were grade 9 students of Yapia Pondok Aren Junior High School, while this research will be conducted on grade 8 students of SMP Negeri 2 Lubuk Pakam. The research method used in previous research is Qualitative with ethnography method while The study's research methodology is classroom action research.

Data collection instruments in previous studies used observation sheets and interview guidelines, while the data collection instruments used in this study used questions and questionnaires. The contribution of previous research to this research is that researchers get references such as theories related to this study and research designs for researchers to be involved in this study. The purpose of this study is to determine whether access to resources from verified Instagram accounts improves students' reading and listening comprehension.

The difference between the previous study above and this study is in the research subject, research methods, data collection instruments and Instagram accounts used, research subject, research methods, data collection instruments and Instagram accounts used. The research method used in the previous research is qualitative and quantitative method, while the research method used in this study is Classroom Research. The data collection instruments in the previous study used a pretest and posttest and an interview, while the data collection instruments used in this study used questions and questionnaires.

In previous studies the account used to research is @washingtonpost and @bbcnews account whereas the account used by the researcher in this study was it will be used by the researcher is @aarons.english and. The research method used in previous research is quantitative and qualitative method, while the research methodology of the study is classroom action research. The contribution of previous research to this research is that researchers get references such as theories related to this study and research design for researchers to be included in this study.

Research Design

These were focus action research objectives in three areas: (1) improving practice, (2) promoting practitioners' professional development by deepening their understanding of the practices in which they are involved, and (3) improving the environment or circumstances in which the practice was carried out. . The action research model based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model was used in this study. According to Kemmis and Mc Taggart (1988) explain that action research takes place through a dynamic and complementary process, which consists of four essential moments: planning, action, observation and reflection.

Grade VIII2 students of SMPN 2 Lubuk Pakam are suitable as research targets, the reason why the researcher chooses this class because it is consistent with the problems that the researcher explained in the background. The researcher identified the issue or problem at this stage and creates an action plan. The researcher explained the reading content to the students and introduced them to the reading strategy and the Instagram account.

The researcher asked students questions after they watched videos from @aarons.english and @agusbacakilat posts on Instagram. Based on the data that was collected, the researcher discussed and made an evaluation to determine the cycle text. The researcher chose to conduct the second cycle of the learning process based on the results of the previous cycle.

Now the researcher checked whether the students understood more and compared their performance between the 1st and 2nd cycle. An interview was conducted to learn more about the students' ability for accurate reading comprehension before treatment. To collect data, the researcher monitors the circumstances and conditions in the classroom during the teaching and learning process.

The researcher observed class activities as they occurred and took notes as they were taught and learned. The researcher collected information through observations and records anything that can be captured by researcher's feelings. In this activity, the researcher looked at how the students behave in the class, the teaching and learning process and student attitudes.

One kind of test that the researcher uses to measure students' ability to read comprehension of descriptive text is the achievement test. In this case, the researcher used a written test of multiple choices, which was carried out at the end of the action, accustomed to the content of the material that has been taught by the students.
