This research dealt with the improvement of students' speaking skills through spinning wheel games at the seventh grade of SMP 3 Bondowoso. The researcher believes that spinning wheel game is one of the most suitable, exciting media to be used. Based on the background described above, the research problem discussed in the research is: How does spinning wheel game improve students' speaking skills at SMP 3 Bondowoso 2022/2023.

Based on the background, this classroom action research aims to improve students' speaking skills through spinning wheel game at SMP 3 Bondowoso in the academic year 2022/2023. The results of this study can add to the existing knowledge about the Spinning wheel game as a medium for improving students' speaking skills.

Improving Junior High School Students' Speaking Skills Using the Spinning Wheel Game.” This research used classroom action research. It plays a spinning wheel in the form of a wheel that can be rotated and divided into several sectors. The researcher made a spinning wheel and card game according to the topic related to the material (Description of animals).

After implementing the research, the researcher concluded that the spinning wheel game can improve students' speaking skills. The researcher implemented the spinning wheel game according to the topic of the material in the first meeting and in the second meeting.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

Previous studies

The spinning wheel was used after the researcher explained the material about the procedural text. In this study, researchers used the Spinning Wheel game media, which is the development of the spinning wheel game. The researcher acted as an English teacher who implemented spinning wheel game technique in the class while observing the students' performance in the teaching and learning process.

They can already answer the question cards and play the spinning wheel correctly and correctly. Improving students' speaking skills through spinning wheel games in junior high school (A action research in the classroom.

The study was conducted by the researcher and the English teacher as observers. In addition, the researcher decided to use the spinning wheel game technique because it was appropriate to solve their problem. So, from the interview with the English teacher and the students, the researcher obtained data about students' speaking skills.

To get the result of the research and the students' activity in teaching and learning process, the researcher took speaking test. In analyzing the data, the researcher first tries to get the mean of students' speaking test score. 70 based on the agreement of the researcher and the cooperating teacher and the mastery level measure (MCM) was 75 (seventy five).

Following is the introduction of spinning wheel game, the researcher used this medium to provide students with understanding. After the researcher explained how to train the students' speaking skills through the spinning wheel game.. examples of pictures of animals on the question cards and asked the students to describe them. In this meeting, the researcher observed that the students of class 7D were very interested in following the lessons that were taught through the pinwheel game.

After explaining the material, the researcher asked all the students to get ready to come one by one to play the pinwheel game and answer the question cards. Before starting the test, the researcher asked the students to be quiet and explained the direction of the speaking test. Therefore, the researcher used a spinning wheel game and some pictures of animals on the attached question cards that are related to the material.

RESEARCH FINDINGS AND DISCUSSION

Research findings

After knowing the students' condition based on the discussion with the English teacher as a staff member, the researcher prepared media and materials. Firstly, the researcher explains about the parts of the animal body which are divided into 3 parts namely (head, body and leg). There were several students who were active and helped the researcher identify examples of animal activity.

After that, the researcher gave several examples of animal pictures and gave examples of how to describe these animals. 34;Describing Animal" material and to improve students' speaking skills, the researcher shows the media to students. When the researcher asked, there were some students who were still confused about its description.

Before the researcher told them what to do in this second meeting, the researcher and the students brainstormed together. At this third meeting, the researcher started the lesson by greeting the students and praying before the exam started. The researcher asked the students to describe pictures of animals on the question cards that the researchers had prepared about parts of the animal body and animal activity.

The researcher started the test and took turns calling the names of the students according to the attendance sheet. After knowing the average score of the students, the researcher attempted to determine the class percentage that met the minimum mastery level criterion (KKM 75). In this step, after delivering the treatment in cycle one, the researcher concluded that implementing a spinning wheel game could improve students' speaking skills because students were more motivated to speak in front of the class.

Discussion

Wahyuni ​​claims that the Spinning Wheel Game is a wheel-shaped medium that can be spun and divided into several sectors/sections containing question cards47. Aulia says that the Spinning wheel game is a learning medium that uses a circle that is divided into several sectors. Each student took turns advancing according to the attendance list to play the spinning wheel game and take the card according to the number they were dealt.

Teaching speaking using a spinning wheel game has advantages and disadvantages for students and teachers. Students enjoy the lesson more and can talk without feeling nervous because they have time to practice before describing animals using the Spinning Wheel game media. Regarding the above problems, Ginnis stated in a diary in Aulia about the benefits of the spinning wheel game.

In conclusion, the implementation of the spinning wheel game can improve the students' ability because it was successful because the students' speaking test scores could reach the success criteria. Therefore, the spinning wheel game can be an effective medium for teachers to teach speaking in the classroom. Considering the results that the use of spinning wheel game as a medium could improve students' speaking skills through spinning wheel game at SMP 3 Bondowoso in the academic year 2022/2023.

R : Bu, rencananya saya akan menggunakan media buatan tangan. Bagaimana jika saya menggunakan media bermain Roda Putar di kelas VII Bu. Guru meminta perwakilan siswa maju ke depan untuk memainkan permainan roda berputar dan mengambil kartu soal. Siswa mulai berkompetisi dalam latihan berbicara dengan memainkan permainan roda berputar dan menjawab kartu soal.

CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION

Conclusion

In the first and second meeting students practice describing animals individually and in the third meeting students practice describing animals in front of the class. There were improvements in students' speaking test scores from last semester to the first cycle. Last semester, the average score of students was only 69, while the percentage of students was 28%.

This means that only 9 students pass the Minimum Mastery Criterion (KKM 75), while the other 23 students were below that criterion. So, the students' speaking skills in the previous semester were still low and need to improve. In the first cycle, the students' average score was 79, while the percentage of the students was 84%.

It means that 27 students passed the Minimum Mastery Criterion (KKM 75), while the other five students were below that criterion. Thus, there was an improvement in students' speaking scores from the previous semester through cycle one.

R: Namanya spinning wheel game, media ini bisa membantu kamu meningkatkan kosakata bahasa Inggris dan juga mengembangkan kemampuan berbicara bahasa Inggris kamu.

Siswa dapat menganalisis dengan benar fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan fungsi kebahasaan teks deskriptif yang berkaitan dengan sifat-sifat hewan. Kegiatan persiapan 1) Guru memberi salam dan meminta kehadiran siswa 2) Salah satu siswa memimpin doa (bergantian pada setiap pertemuan). Di bawah bimbingan guru, siswa mempertanyakan ciri-ciri fisik dan perilaku hewan di sekitarnya dalam bahasa Inggris dan bahasa Indonesia.

Guru menyampaikan materi tentang mendeskripsikan hewan kepada siswa untuk lebih meningkatkan pemahaman siswa.
