This research aimed at finding out students’ speaking skill in terms of accuracy (vocabulary and grammar) by using lobbyist hearing strategy at the First Grade of SMA Nurkarya Tidung Makassar.
This research used a pre-experimental research. The researcher had conducted a treatment, where the class consisted of ten meetings. The population of this study is the first grade students of SMA Nurkarya Tidung Makassar in the academic year of 2016/2017. The researcher used Total Sampling Technique. The research instrument used speaking test.
The research findings indicated that achievement of the first grade of SMA Nurkarya Tidung Makassar was improved after using lobbyist hearing strategy. It was proven by mean score of accuracy in terms of vocabulary in pre-test was 24.16, post- test was 35.83 and the improvement of vocabulary was 48.30 %. While, the pre-test of grammar was 23.32, post-test was 36.66 and the improvement of grammar was 57.2%. The result of statistical analysis of t-test with degree of freedom, where N=20 (df=19) at the level significance 0.05 indicated that there were significance of vocabulary (5.63 > 1.729) and grammar (5.86 > 1.729). Based on the research finding, the researcher concluded that teaching English by using lobbyist hearing strategy can improve the students’ English Speaking skill.
