Gangguan ini ditemukan peneliti di kelas VIII MTs Darul A'mal Metro karena siswa masih sulit mengingat ketika diberikan kosa kata baru. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menerapkan permainan bergambar untuk meningkatkan penguasaan kosa kata siswa di kelas delapan MTs Darul A'mal Metro yang terdiri dari 20 siswa. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa indikator keberhasilan yang dicapai adalah minimal 80% siswa telah lulus Kriteria Standar Minimal (MSC) minimal 70 dan jelas bahwa penggunaan permainan bergambar dapat meningkatkan penguasaan kosa kata siswa.

Many students lack vocabulary because the students are still hard to remember the vocabulary. This disorder was found by the researcher of eighth graders of MTs Darul A'mal Metro, it is because the students are still hard to remember when they learn new vocabulary. To increase the mastery of the students' vocabulary, the researcher used a pictionary game as a media in the learning process.

The purpose of this research was to use pictogram games to increase students' vocabulary mastery at the eighth grade of MTs Darul A'mal Metro in the academic year which consisted of 20 students. Regarding the research process, the researcher administered the pre-test so that the students can know their vocabulary score. In addition, the change of the students' vocabulary score can be known by post-test I given in each cycle.

Background of the Study

Pictionary is a game where students guess words from a picture and students work in groups, with each team member taking turns presenting a picture of vocabulary words given by the teacher. Because when using this game in the vocabulary of the learning process, the teacher can be creative, and the students can be more active in the learning process. In addition, the problem of students at MTs Darul A’mal metro is that the students still lack vocabulary.

The teacher did not try to stimulate the students' interest, motivation and joy in learning. So the students were upset and as a result the students feel frustrated to study vocabulary anytime. The proof was the result of the test, it could be concluded that the students' vocabulary was still low due to minimum mastery with the average of 50 meanwhile minimum mastery criteria (MMC) for English subject at eighth grades of MTs Darul A'mal Metro is 70.

The teacher also gets the many difficulties in the teaching process especially in the teaching of vocabulary because the students still lack vocabulary and have low motivation. Based on the explanation above, the researcher used a picture game to increase students' vocabulary mastery of the eighth graders at MT's Darul A'mal Metro.

It is believed that using Pictionary Game in teaching would be able to create an interesting way in the classroom while presenting the material of the lesson.

Pictionary game is one of the games that help the students to increase their learning vocabulary mastery easily. To inform the other researchers in order to carry out the research on the teaching of English better in the future, and we can know that advantage of the use of technique in the teaching of learning.

Vocabulary is a challenge for students, partly because of the size of the task and partly because of the many different types of vocabulary to be learned, including single words, sentences, collocations and strategic vocabulary, as well as grammatical patterns, idioms and regular expressions.5 Vocabulary is not only limited to the meaning of words, but also includes how vocabulary in a language is structured: how people use and store and how words are learned and the relationship between words, sentences, categories of words and sentences. Based on the above statement, it can be concluded that vocabulary is a group of words that become a basic thing in the language and must be mastered by the language learner to support effective communication and express ideas in oral and written form. Vocabulary is central to English teaching because without sufficient vocabulary students cannot understand others or express their own ideas.6 According to David Wilkins without.

Vocabulary is very important for students who hope to master the skills of reading, speaking and listening to what the speaker said. Based on McCrostie as cited in Balci and Cakir, it is believed that having a large and varied vocabulary is indicative of communicative competence and is one of the important aspects of language learning. The teacher demonstrates the language he/she wants the students to study by offering them in action.

From the explanation above, the researcher gets the conclusion that the teaching and learning of vocabulary is an activity where the teacher gives the students knowledge about vocabulary and how to use it in daily life, needs a process. Based on the statement above, it can be concluded that pixie game is a game that involves students guessing words or phrases from drawings. The students work in teams, each member of the team taking turns to be a picture of a vocabulary word given by the teacher.

According to Donna Spangler and John Alex Mazzante, these are different procedures for playing pictionary games in the classroom, as follows. Based on the description above, the teacher's vocabulary is using a game, because play is a fun way to learn vocabulary, so that students can easily remember and understand it. Pictionary game can be an excellent learning tool for developing communication and creative thinking skills.

Based on the above explanation, we can conclude that the disadvantages of the implementation of pictionary game are that the students can become too noisy in the classroom and the teaching of learning activity can give no conductive atmosphere at all. Vocabulary is one of the most important things in learning English that is why one should look for the way in which vocabulary can be taught clearly and understandably. That's why the other said that games are useful and meaningful ways for the students and the teacher to teach the learning process.

This will be why the message has changed; how often the message changed and what they feel after playing this game. The purpose of playing this game is to introduce some new words to the students of the high school.

In this classroom action research, the researcher would like to conduct the research in two cycles. If the cycle has failed, the cycle will be repaired in the second cycle and so on. From the illustrated above, the explanations about four steps of the action research procedure were carried out in each cycle:.

1. Planning

The researcher would prepare the lesson plan, the list of the student's name, materials and a picture sequence that relates the material as teaching media. Before the treatment was done, the researcher would do the pre-test for the students and the students would be given a card with a word, then they had to do it with appropriate ability. In the action, the teaching process would be carried out in eighth classes by MTs Darul A'mal Metro relates to the schedule of English subjects in these classes.

While observing, the researcher and collaborator used observation sheets to write down the important things as long as the learning process was taking place. From the observation sheet, the researcher and collaborator should know the result of the student's learning activities. In this step, the researcher and collaborator analyzed the effect of the acting, which thing needed to be repaired and which thing received attention in the next acting.

The result of the reflection will then be used as a guide to make a new plan in the next cycle.

So that was the reason why the researcher used picture games to increase students' vocabulary mastery. In the learning process, four were used and mentioned to know the students' activity. At the end of this cycle, the researcher analyzed and calculated all processes such as the students' pre-test score and the result of the students' post-test I score.

The table above showed that the students' scores on post-test II were diverse. After the pre-test was done, the researcher gave the treatments to the students in cycle I. From the result of the students' score in pre-test and post-test I, there was an increase in the students' result score.

Although there was an increase in students' performance, cycle I was not yet successful because only 8 students (40%) passed post-test I. From the result of students' scores from post-test II., it could be concluded that that there was an increasing score. Based on the results of the pre-test, post-test I and post-test II, it was known that there was a positive significant increase in the students'.

Based on the graph above, it could be deduced that picture games could increase students' vocabulary mastery. It was clear that the Pictionary Game could be used to increase students' vocabulary mastery.

APPENDICES

The teacher started the lesson by greeting the students and then motivated them to participate actively in the learning process and explained the objective and purpose of the lesson. The teacher gives the students a treatment to use the painting game based on a word card.
