Judul Skripsi: Enhancing Students' Writing Ability Through Print Media (A Classroom Action Research in the Eleventh Grade of MA Muallimin Muhammadiyah Makassar). The reason leads the writer to conduct a research titled "Increasing students' writing ability by using print mass media at eleventh grade of MA Muallimin Muhammadiyah Makassar". How is the improvement of students' writing ability through the use of print mass media at eleventh grade of MA Muallimin Muhammadiyah Makassar?”. The research focuses on how to apply Print Mass Media, especially magazine to increase students' writing ability at eleventh grade of MA Muallimin Muhammadiyah Makassar.

The writer can imply that the use of written media in teaching reading can be a suitable teaching material to improve student achievement and increase student motivation. When it failed, the researcher continued cycle II to improve the result in students' writing ability through the use of print media. Based on the above theoretical framework, the hypothesis can be formulated as follows: the use of print media can improve the writing ability of eleventh grade high school students in MA Muallimin Muhammadiyah Makassar.

Students' writing skill was the dependent variable and the use of print mass media was the independent variable. Findings consist of data on students' writing ability through print mass media, particularly in content and organization, while discussion contains analysis results. The table above shows that the average score of students' achievement in content (clear and meaningful) in the first cycle was 68.6, while in the second cycle it was 75.2 and the percentage was 9.7%.

The table above shows that the average score of the students on the diagnostic test before the implementation of mass print media (magazines) was 57.7 and was categorized as 'poor'. After performing the first cycle and the second cycle, the result showed that the score of the students improved in the first and second cycle. The above result is formulated on the basis of the technique of data analysis and the scores of the students that are collected.

Improving students' writing ability in terms of content through print mass media (magazine). After the implementation of the printed mass media (the magazine) in writing, the result showed that the content component of the students' results in the first and second cycle also improved. The researcher found out the improvement of students' understanding and ability of this sub-content.

FINDINGS AND DISCUSSIONS

Findings

The table above shows that the percentage of students' writing proficiency levels in the diagnostic test before using the print mass media (magazine) strategy revealed that there is no student who scored excellent and very good. From the table above, it can be seen that the average score of students' writing ability according to printed media in terms of variable content (clear and meaningful) in a special diagnostic test after using treatment in the first cycle was 57.6, the average score was 68.6, in the second cycle it was average score 75.2. From the table above, it can be seen that the percentage of students' levels of writing ability in the diagnostic test before the use of print media revealed that no student at all got excellent and very good grades.

It can be seen from the above table that the average score of students' writing ability in the content variable (Logical, Communicative and Knowledgeable) in the diagnostic test before the use of print media was 57.8. From the table above, it can be seen that the percentage of the levels of students' writing ability in the opinion text in the diagnostic test before the use of print media showed that 3 students (10.8%) were classified as good (the identification structure is not complete and the descriptions are arranged with little connections with the concept of writing), 9 students (32.1%) were classified as fairly good (the identification structure is not complete and the description is arranged by the incorrect use of conjunctions) and 16 students (57.1%) were classified as good (not evidence of structure in the concept of writing) from 28 respondents. It can be seen from the table above that the average score of the students' writing ability in the variable of organization (generic structure) in the diagnostic test before the use of print media was 57.1.

The table above shows the average score of the students who wrote opinion text in D-test was 57.7. Therefore, the average score of students' writing in each cycle improved from 66.7 in the top to 76.1 in the second cycle and the percentage was 14.0%. The result of Students' Activity in Teaching and Learning Process The result of the students' activity in teaching and learning to the application of Printed Mass Media (Magazine) to increase the students.

The table clearly shows that the activity of students in the fourth meeting is greater than the first and second.

Discussions

In this chapter, the researcher presents two sections, they are conclusion and suggestion, the use of print mass media to improve students' writing ability. After conducting the research on the use of print mass media (magazine) at the Eleventh Grade of MA Muallimin Muhammadiyah Makassar, and based on the result of the data analysis and the discussion of the result in the previous chapter, the researcher concluded that:. The improvement of the students' writing ability is also supported by the result of the test result, the sub-content clear and meaningful, in diagnostic test the score was 57.6 after applying treatment in the first cycle the average score was 68.6 and the second cycle the average score was 75.2 .

The improvement of students' writing ability in the organization the subgeneric structure, in diagnostic test the score was 57.1 after applying treatment in the first cycle the average score was 69.3 and the second cycle the average score was 77. Based on the result of research , which positively points out that the use of mass print media, especially magazines, could improve students' writing ability, especially some suggestions for the teaching of English are proposed as follows:. For the eleventh grade English teacher of MA Muallimin Muhammadiyah Makassar, it is useful to use printed mass media as an alternative teaching and make the variation of the teaching-learning process so that the students' will falls more.

For the next researcher, this research discusses the use of print media to improve students' writing skills, which is conducted in the eleventh grade of high school students. The second time, each student from each group may take small notes or write down key words and key points from the text that can help them in the reconstruction phase.
