Because Indianapolis is also the capital of Indiana, the Law School has a greater opportunity to see and meet the problems of the state. Fees are paid at the time of registration each semester and are subject to change by the trustees' action. For full-time employees, this courtesy will provide a waiver of a portion of the basic fees for all courses in which the employee will be permitted to enroll.

For spouses of full-time employees, this courtesy provides a waiver of a portion of the base fee for as many as three credit hours in which the spouse is enrolled for each regular semester and summer session, excluding any intensive session courses. An individual is classified as a “resident student” if he/she has resided continuously in Indiana for at least twelve (12) months immediately preceding the first scheduled day of classes for the semester or other session in which the individual enrolls in college. , subject to the exception stated in paragraph 2. A minor who comes from another state or country for the primary purpose of attending the University shall not be admitted to resident student status on the basis of the residence of a guardian, except in appeal to the trustees in both cases.

When the family of a person properly classified as a "resident student" pursuant to paragraph 2 is found to have moved their permanent home out of Indiana, such person shall then be reclassified to nonresident status; provided that such reclassification shall not be effective until the beginning of the semester following such removal.

THE STUDY OF LAW

One of the aims of the employment service run by the Faculty of Law is to enable students to find full-time or part-time work suitable for the study of law within appropriate limits. The Faculty of Law Library contains 125,000 volumes and is growing steadily both in size and breadth of coverage. This library, one of a select few law school libraries in the United States, is a United States Government Federal Publications Depository.

The right to be a contributor to the Review is earned and maintained in writing. The hours of credit earned by the editorial staff are determined by the faculty advisor based on the amount of work involved. The community and professional resources of one of the nation's larger urban centers have enabled Indianapolis Law School to initiate a wide range of clinical programs.

The purpose of the second year of the program is to provide the student with an initial introduction to the legal process in criminal and civil matters. The emphasis is on the lawyer's professional responsibility to the client, to his profession, to the legal system and to society. Working under the supervision and direction of the director of the association and the employed lawyers, students are exposed to a whole range of legal problems related to legal aid.

Interns in this program are assigned to the Office of the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana. One of the purposes of the advisor program is to maintain the close relationships between faculty and students that have existed at this institution in the past. The record of any student seeking to transfer to the Indianapolis Law School will be evaluated based on the standards, rules and regulations of this school in effect at the time such record was compiled.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Beginning students in both divisions may begin in May for the summer semester and in August for the fall semester. An auditor receives no credit and may participate in classroom discussions only with the instructor's permission. An annual subscription to United States Law Week for a member of the graduating class who, in the judgment of the faculty, is making the most satisfactory scholastic progress during his final year of law school.

200 awarded each year to two students who have demonstrated outstanding ability in the field of taxation. A $50 award for the student who receives the highest course grade in real estate law. Dix of the Terre Haute Bar to the graduating senior who submitted the best thesis or scholarly writing in any area of ​​law.

A plaque presented to a student who has demonstrated outstanding courtroom advocacy skills during the Trial Advocacy course. A plaque award and an annual subscription to the Insurance Counsel Journal to a student who demonstrates outstanding knowledge in the field of insurance law. Prizes of $250 and $100 for the best and second best articles on any stage of copyright law; powered by the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers.

Winning papers are also considered for National Awards and publications at the Annual Symposium. A $50 award to the student who receives the highest course grade in a real estate course. An award for a student who has demonstrated exceptional ability in both business law and taxation.

DEGREE REQUIREMENTS

Information on application procedures may be obtained from the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aids at IUPUI, Cavanaugh Hall, 925 West Michigan Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46202. He is relatively less likely to be involved in litigation, but is deeply involved in research, writing, and negotiations . Whether as a government employee or official, or as a private practitioner specializing in public law, he is primarily concerned with the governmental decision-making process, especially as it affects individuals, groups, companies and other entities.

Information on the classification of specific courses can be found in the current student handbook. A student who is absent from more than 10% of class or class meetings in any course may, at the discretion of the instructor, be expelled from the course with a grade of W or WF. Beyond this time, the student must have the approval of the instructor of the course he wishes to withdraw from.

A student who chooses to withdraw from one or more courses must complete the appropriate form or forms available in the Dean's Office. Withdrawal will be effective on the date such forms are properly filed with the Dean's Office. A student who fails to complete the work in any nonexamination course, including writing courses and credit or n::m-credit courses, in the semester in which he is enrolled, must submit a written explanation to the course instructor within five (5) days after the last day of the lesson, indicating the reason for not completing the work.

A student who fails to take a final examination of any graduate course, including credit or non-credit courses, in the enrolled semester must provide a written explanation within five (5) days of the administration of the examination submit it to the dean stating the reason why he did not take the exam. At the end of a student's second semester, and each semester* thereafter, their cumulative grade point average will be calculated. A failing grade will be included in the calculation even if the course is retaken and passed. A student whose cumulative average is less than 2.0 will be placed on academic probation and may be required to adjust his academic and extracurricular loads.

PLACEMENT SERVICES

Development of law to limit competitive rivalry by focusing on unfair methods of competition and misleading advertising under the FTC Act and price discrimination under the Robinson-Patman Act. A study of the law governing private economic power and the preservation of competition under the Sherman Antitrust Act and the Clayton Antitrust Act, emphasizing monopolization, restraint of trade, refusal to deal, and mergers. The judges will assign four students to a court-appointed public defender to represent indigent clients in the defense of criminal charges brought against them and tried in those courts, and they will use one as their legal counsel.

Twelve students are assigned to the Marion County District Attorney's Office, and eight students are assigned to prosecutors in neighboring counties for use as deputy prosecutors. Prior participation in one of the Defender or Prisoner Assistance internships is a prerequisite for registration in this program. Four students are assigned to the United States Attorney's Office to assist in criminal prosecutions and civil suits.

A prerequisite for registration in the p1·ogram is prior participation in one of Defender or P1·isoner Legal Assistance internships. A Study of the Principles of State and Municipal Tax and Budget Procedures, Including Real and Persona]. Urban problems such as crime control, housing, land use, education, finance, transportation, pollution, and health are examined in both legal and non-legal contexts.

A study of the actual role of Jawa and lawyers in society and social science techniques to test the hypothesized relationships of influence in specific problem areas will be published whenever they become available. A panoramic survey of the phenomenon of world law, exemplified in the major mature non-Marxist legal systems (civil law, Latin American, Islamic, Far Eastern), allowing jurists to contrast Anglo. A study of the litigation and substantive law aspects of civil rights, including pleadings, discovery, strategy, and trial tactics involved in the prosecution and defense of civil rights cases.

A course for senior students who want more information about how the procedure controls and causes the development of a lawsuit; how office practice relates to procedures, how policy is influenced by procedures, with special emphasis on the civil side of the office in the US. Selected critical research on the impact of mass media and the appropriateness and feasibility of legal regulation and protections, with particular emphasis on the First Amendment and the Federal Communications Act.
