In-cerim policy on admission with advanced standing The following policy has been adopted on a trial basis. Applicants from other institutions who have been admitted .lith advanced status >'1il] are eligible to meet the requirements. H01 students j depending on individual career interests, such a student may be required to enroll in additional courses which may extend the program beyond the academic year.
In addition to these advanced status specific policies; it should be understood that all general. School policies apply equally to students admitted with advanced standing.* Special consideration is given to the time limit for completing degree requirements. One exception is that credits earned at colleges or universities other than schools of social work cannot be accepted toward transfer in lieu of advanced placement.

FEES AND EXPENSES·
These rules come into effect on February 1, 1974; provided that no person duly classified as a resident student before February 1, 1974, shall be adversely affected by these Rules if he or she has attended the University before that date and so long as he or she remains continuously enrolled in the University . A person who enters the State from another State or country does not at that time acquire abode for the purposes of these Rules but, except as provided in Rule 2(c), such person shall for twelve (12) months be a resident in order to qualify as a resident student for reimbursement purposes. An individual is classified as a “resident student” if he or she has resided continuously in Indiana for at least twelve (12) consecutive months immediately preceding the first scheduled day of classes for the semester or other session in which the individual registers. at the University, subject to the exception in (c) below. a) The domicile of an unemancipated person under the age of 21 years shall follow that of the parents or of a legal guardian who has actual custody of such person or manages the property of such person.
If such person comes from another country or country with the predominant purpose of attending the University, he may not be admitted to resident status based on the actual residence of the guardian, except on appeal to the Permanent Board of Residence in each case. 34;resident student" under paragraph (c) above removes his residence from Indiana, such person shall thereafter be reclassified to nonresident status; provided, that no reclassification shall be effective until the beginning of the semester following such For a person once properly classified as a resident student shall be deemed to remain a resident student so long as he remains continuously enrolled in the University until such person obtains a degree, subject to the provisions of subparagraph (d) above.
The foreign citizenship of a person shall not be a factor in determining resident student status if such person has legal standing to remain permanently in the United States. Such a student will be allowed to present his or her evidence only after the expiry of twelve (12) months from the Residence Eligible Date, i.e. the date on which the student began the twelve (12) month period for residence . The existence of one or more of these factors will not require a finding of resident student status, nor will the nonexistence of one or more require a finding of nonresident student status.
All factors shall be considered combined, and habitual resident student status shall not result from the performance of acts that are routinely required or performed by aliens in the state or that are merely ancillary to the accomplishment of educational purposes. a) Residence of the student's parents or guardians. State issuing student driver's license. f) Where the student is registered to vote. g) Marriage of the student to a resident of Indiana. The decision of the Committee shall be final and shall be deemed equivalent to a decision of the Trustees of Indiana University.
A student or prospective student who knowingly provides false information or refuses to provide or withholds information for the purpose of improperly obtaining resident student status will be subject to all sanctions, including exclusion, provided by the University, as well as for other such punishment that may be provided by law. A student or prospective student who fails to claim resident student status within a given semester or session and pursue a timely appeal (see Rule 8) to the Standing Committee on Residence will be deemed to have waived any alleged overpayment of fees for that semester or session.

ADMISSION
Individuals who have completed a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution may register for up to 10 hours of graduate work in selected courses without being admitted to the SchooL. In limited numbers, admitted students who find it impossible to initially enroll full-time may be allowed to complete their first-year requirements over a period of four semesters and one summer session. Part-time enrollment is limited by space and faculty availability; Degree students are given priority when registering for certain courses. Individuals interested in part-time study are encouraged to consult with the school's admissions officer.
Applicants who are not citizens of the United States should apply as soon as possible before the fall in which they wish to enter; they must provide proof that they are able to pay tuition fees and support themselves adequately during their studies, and they must demonstrate the ability to understand, write and speak English at an acceptable level through exams set by the school.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE MASTER OF SOCIAL WORK DEGREE
ACADEMIC REGULATIONS
The student may be denied the right to make up an Incomplete if it appears to the Dean and the instructor that it is impractical for the student to complete the course. In some cases the Dean of the School may authorize the change from Incomplete to W. Careful attention is given to the integration and appropriate utilization of didactic, simulation and field experiences.
These modes of delivery are enhanced by the extensive use of audiovisual and computer resources of the school and university. By arranging the curricular connection, first-year students begin to emphasize learning relevant to the major into which they have been admitted. Due to the emergent nature of social problems and the spread of knowledge, the curriculum is constantly reviewed and changed.

At the internships, both first- and second-year students are taught by staff who meet the school's standards.
Due to impending faculty decisions, first-year students entering the school in 1975-76 must also be prepared for a field placement that requires transfer during the first or second year of the program. For a master's degree in social work, a student must have fieldwork in two different service areas. Students may be expected to participate as subjects in research on the quality and effectiveness of the educational process.
The purpose of such research is to strengthen the goals of social work through the development of knowledge relevant to social work education. Part of the commitment to the social work profession is the student's willingness to participate in such research.
