This thesis entitled “The Effect of Using Cartoon Video on the Speaking Skills of Students at UPT SMAN 6 Takalar in the academic year is submitted as a compulsory requirement for the S1 level of the English language study program at the Faculty of Education, Muhammadiyah University Makassar. There are some issues that the students face in getting the talk, including the students who find it difficult to understand the talk topic, their talk is extremely challenging to be observed by others, lack of confidence, reluctance to make mistakes and absence of vocabulary. First, the students are not confident to speak in front of the class and find it difficult to convey their ideas. So the students feel confused to express the ideas in their mind even not active enough in their speaking class.

Based on the explanation above, the researcher formulates the research question as follows: does the use of cartoon video improve students? In relation to the problem statement above, the researcher stated that the purpose of the study was to find out if cartoon video improves students'. To provide information to the English teacher on how to improve students' ability to speak class activity through cartoon video.

In this study, the researcher focused on speaking in terms of the students' accuracy (pronunciation) and fluency (fluency) by using Cartoon Video to influence the students' speaking skills using the topic Questions and Opinions, specially at SMAN 6 Takalar.

And the similarity of this with the previous researcher is the use of media to teach speaking such as cartoon video or movie in the teaching process and the other similarity is the researchers focus on students' speaking ability. And the differences between this research and the research that Puspitaningrumis has done, she does the research in the first semester of the eleventh grade of MA and Herwinda does the research in the students of the seventh grade of the lower secondary school, for the researcher they do the research in the School of high middle. Students also expect teachers to speak English with them and model how it is used to express meaning.

Second, the teacher gives students the opportunity to speak and improve their speaking skills. Brown (2017), there are at least five components of speaking skills that students should master in order to increase their speaking ability. It can be concluded that media is a tool in the teaching and learning process that is used as a mediator to transfer the information from sender to receiver.

In this analysis, the researcher used audiovisual media called film as the medium of interaction as it can inspire the students to learn and pay attention to the material given. From the above statements, it can be concluded that there are many types of media that can be used in the teaching and learning process, including visual media, audio media, and audiovisual media. While in freer speaking activities, the teacher hopes for the correct use of language, but is also keen to encourage the students' efforts to use the language they have to communicate.

The teacher should have a good standard of pronunciation so that students can imitate their teacher in the teaching and learning process. Audiovisual is categorized as one of the best media to learn speaking as students can not only see it but also see it at the same time or in short term they see and hear at the same time. The researcher chose cartoon videos as teaching media in carrying out this research because they are close to students' lives and the researcher gets the cartoon video on youtube.

Students are given a post-test as a baseline to determine the extent of their understanding of specific learning. Then, in this process, students will be given tasks to improve their speaking skills with the help of cartoon videos, especially in increasing students' accuracy and fluency. And finally, the students are given a post-test as a final step for the researcher to see the students' abilities during the learning process. using cartoon video) Pretest.

The researcher asked the students to make a short sentence based on the 5 topics given by the researcher and the students are asked to choose according to their own topic. The students have been given the opportunity to ask if they do not understand the material. The students repeat the dialogue that the research shared about cartoon video and the voice message sent by the students to know the speaking ability of the students.

After the treatment, a post-test was performed, the same applies to the pre-test. The goal is to see the value of the treatment whether or not the post-test result was better than the pre-test, or to know the effectiveness of the cartoon video. affected the speaking skills of the students. To find out the students' speaking skills using media in the form of cartoon videos, the students were given a test to determine the degree of their speaking skills, especially in terms of speaking accuracy. To find out the speaking ability of the students using media in the form of cartoon videos, the students were given a test to determine the extent of their speaking ability, especially in the field of speaking ability.

The purpose of this study was to know the ability of students to speak through cartoon video. In the fluent language student, the mean value of the posttest was greater than the pretest. Improving fluency in students' speaking ability In this aspect, there are also students who, while speaking or pronouncing sentences, still get stuck or have less fluency. However, there are still some students who are also good at fluency, especially at smoothness. If students want to improve their speaking fluency, they often need to repeat each sentence before speaking.

Also, data collection using SPSS showed improvement from pre-test to post-test of students in speaking accuracy and improvement of students from pre-test to post-test. speaking skills test. The use of cartoon video improves students' speaking skills, especially the accuracy and fluency of students in class XI MIPA 2 Takalar.

FINDINGS AND DISCUSSION

Findings

In this section, the researcher described the result of the data analysis based on the problem statement. In this study, the researcher used pre-test and post-tests and SPSS or Statistical Package for the Sciences Social to obtain more accurate and valid data.

Discussion

This is indicated by the mean value of the posttest being greater than the mean value of the pretest of accuracy. This is supported by the results of observations during the learning process, obtained some information, including that the students in learning with the help of cartoon videos have a great interest in listening to dialogue, which is evidenced by the students' ability to pronounce words and sentences spoken directly by the speakers in the video that has been shown share via the whatsapp group. In addition, the students do not feel bored, so they can be motivated and actively involved in the learning process.

There are still some students who are less precise in pronouncing each word, there are also those who are already good at pronouncing the words. One way to improve students' abilities in this aspect, one of them is to learn by using cartoon video, because that way the students can hear and see how the writer's pronunciation is correct. Therefore, it can be concluded that learning through the use of cartoon video is effective in improving students' abilities in class XI MIPA 2 of SMAN 6 Takalar.

Based on the findings and discussion, we can conclude that the use of cartoon video was effective in improving the students' speaking ability in terms of speaking accuracy and fluency, the findings show that the post-test was higher than the pre-test. speaking accuracy and the posttest was higher than the pretest of fluency. Based on the results of the research and the advantages of using cartoon video in spoken English teaching of the eleventh grade of UPT SMAN 6 Taklar, the researcher wants to make some suggestions. Cartoon video is a good medium that can help students to master students' speaking ability, which can encourage students to create an idea by themselves and improve their speaking ability.

A teacher should choose appropriate media that can help the students to be more active in the classroom. The students should study hard and practice speaking in English more to improve their speaking ability. In this research, the researcher used cartoon video to help students of Senior High School, especially with speaking ability.

Improving the Pronunciation Skills of Students Using Cartoon Film in Eighth Grade of SMP N Kaliworo in 2009/2010. The influence of the use of animated films on the speaking skills of students in the first semester of the eleventh grade of MA AL Hikmah Bandar Lampung in the academic year 2017/2018.
