Staff Council Meeting - October 16, 2013 - Noteable Notes
Victor Osuna has been hired as director of employee relations in Human Resources Administration. Mr. Osuna's focus will be on initiatives with the strategic plan and forming a partnership with management relations.
A new administration building will break ground soon on the northeast corner of University Boulevard and New York Street. The building will house the Schools of Philanthropy and Social Work as well as the chancellor's office and other occupants of the AO Building. Construction is estimated to be 15 months.
An arrangement has been made between IUPUI and NIFS to allow students to use the NIFS facilities at a greatly reduced price. The arrangement is a pilot project to see what usage is.
At the conclusion of the meeting, members participated in an educational panel presentation on LGBTQ at IUPUI: Marriage and More. The focus was the effects of House Joint Resolution 6 as well as research and surveys conducted about life as an LGBTQ on this campus. Recently, the university announced it would join Freedom Indiana in the opposition of the resolution.
