Carbon Ind. Sept 9, 1907 Professor Chas F Binns Alfred, N. Y.

Dear Professor,

Your kindly letter came some days ago, and now you will be glad to hear that a turn in the tide at last gives me some hope that after all we may be able to make this Carbon enterprise go. So I will, with your consent hold back on those two parties you gave me until this is threshed out. In case you fill either of the two openings I will of course like to know of it a couple of weeks with me will tell whether I go or stay in our business here.

A (?) or two came along and also some kindly disposed clay men and as father and I did our work well, the factory speaks for itself. Consequently the locals lost their scare and paid off the debts, small ones but dangerous just now, and it seems entirely possible now to raise capital if time enough is allowed to do so.

I will write you again when it shapes up one way or the other. I hope you will have a big school year, a good one.

Yours very truly, Paul E. Cox

Please give Mrs. Binns my best wishes.
