AU Libraries’ All-Staff Meeting May 11, 2022

Zoom Mtg ID: 924 0490 9064 10:00AM – 11:00AM

Rediscovering Joy: Summer of Play Summer 2022 Projects

• Administrative Team - eProcurement training

• Public Services – Display Case Theme Projects/Libchat & Libcal refinement/finalize social media policy

• Collection Management – Reparative cataloging

• Archives – New workspace configuration in Scholes

• Information Literacy – Zine Collection & Develop Class Syllabus Summer Plan & Coverage

Summer hours 8:30AM – 4:30PM will commence Monday, May 16th. Special hours of operation will be announced to accommodate special summer programs below –

• H/EOP will be on campus July & August

• AUNY (our downstate students) have scheduled classes during the summer

• Summer Arts

• Summer Sports

• Campus Tours during Reunion Weekend

We have hired a few student workers to assist us this summer. All Summer hires are Non-College Work Study.

• Herrick – Amber Weiner, Madison LeClaire, Jeremiah Orshal

• Scholes – Anna Grossman, Josiah Alexander, Molly Sidenstricker (for a few weeks) and (possibly) Luke Sullivan.

Please notify Mechele with any projects that the students may assist with, especially if the project can be done at the reference desk.

With student wages increasing and the budget remaining flat, fall semester student hires will be College Work Study eligible only. The libraries will not be able to hire students unless they are eligible for the Federal College Work Study Program and have been awarded the FCWS through the Financial Aid Office.

You will be seeing Mechele and Haleigh walking through Herrick and Scholes. They are making a list of “to-do”

projects. Among the projects is identifying interior signage updates in Scholes.

The Disaster Response Kits have been replenished, but the Disaster Response Plan needs to be revisited and updated.

The Senior Art show exhibits are still on display. You are welcome to give Mechele and/or John your suggestions for purchasing items for display in Herrick or Scholes Library.

All of you should have received an invite to Microsoft Teams. This will be the “go to” location for documents that are to be shared with other teams. Brett has been working on a secure, sustainable way for the library teams to access and share relevant documents with each other. A User Guide is being developed and refined.

Brett shared an overview of the process to upload documents into the Microsoft Teams application. Each team will be deciding what documents would be relevant to add to this document collection.

Updates

• The charge for the summer of 2022 is to rediscover joy in the Summer of Play.

o What brings you joy?

o What do you do at the AU libraries that brings you joy?

Take a few moments this summer to think about the people, activities or things that bring you joy. Take the time to not only think about this, but act on it.
