CHAPTER I INTRODUCTION
A. Background
To be a good teacher, teacher needs to have many knowledge and skills to teach. And to achieve it, teacher must be given training to be a good teacher. Teaching is a profession that requires specialized knowledge and skills in which the teacher should be given a special training before starting their profession (Kilic, 2010). CHAPTER II
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
A. The Concept of Microteaching
In this research discussed some related theories to support this study. The theories will use for the underlying requirement to solve the problems. These studies also present the definition of Microteaching and Perception. The act of Undang-UndangRepublik Indonesia number 14 year 2005 Chapter IV Verse 10 on teacher and lecturer, explain that a teacher has to have a competence which is reliable. It refers to the teaching context and teacher in society context. That competence includes pedagogical competence, personal competence, professional competence, and social competence. In order to create a professional teacher, it can be developed by Practicum, Microteaching then will be continue with Teaching Practice Program (Yusuf, 2010).
Microteaching is usually applied before student teachers do the teaching practice program to examine theory readiness of student teachers so that it reduces the student teachers nervous in real teaching. According to Remesh and Memorial (2013), Microteaching is a teacher‟s exercise to learn a teaching skills.
It employs real teaching situation for developing skills and help to get knowledge in teaching process. Besides that, Kilic (2010) argued that microteaching can
develop the ability of making a lesson plan, decide a teaching‟s purposes, teach in front of the students, and try to evaluate teaching learning process. It can be done in a small group of students.
a. Definition of Microteaching
According to Allen and Rayen(1969) : “Micro-teaching is to be found in five essential proposition, the first of which is that micro teaching is real teaching but the complexities of normal classroom teaching are lessened. That there is a focus on training for the accomplishment of specific tasks, that allowance is made for increased control of practice and that the control knowledge of results or feedback dimensions is greatly expanded.” Micro- teaching is a scaled down teaching encounter in class size and class time.
Ofoefuna (2002) in Ajileye (2013), defined microteaching as a component skill approach to teachers' preparation and training. Without adequate acquisition of teaching skills, learning process cannot be effective.
Ajiyele (2013) microteaching afforded them the opportunity to apply in practice the pedagogical theories learnt in the class. Microteaching gave them the opportunity to plan lessons and try different teaching skills they were exposed to in their study. The student teachers learnt how to appreciate other peoples' views and opinions.
Microteaching is a technique in teacher education which provides a transition from theory to real teaching situations (Çelik, 2001)In
