In the 1940s it was necessary for a vocational agriculture teacher to write to 16 different companies to get all the official FFA merchandise. In 1957, the Boards decided that it was in the best interest of the FFA to take over the operation of the Official FFA Calendar previously published by the Osborne Company under its own authority. Management and operation of the calendar program was assigned to the FFA magazine. The magazine began publishing the calendar with the 1958 issue.

As part of the BOAC program, the Bradley FFA in Cleveland, Tennessee initiated a joint project with the local Chamber of Commerce and County4-H organization entitled "Garden of the Month."
