Based on the quotes above, it can be inferred that writing is the communication of content for a purpose to an audience and the activity of communicating ideas or thoughts through written language form. You may even need to change your organization so that your text is more logical. Furthermore, Jeremy Harmer states that "the process of writing is planning, drafting, editing and final version".6.

Thus, a text is any meaningful linguistic unit in both linguistic context and non-linguistic context. It can be a notice or a direction or an advertisement or a paragraph or an essay or a book or.

This means that learning English text is learning to communicate in the culture of the English people. Based on the above quotations, it can be concluded that a text is a meaningful linguistic unit in a context. The purpose of a recount text is to give the audience a description of what happened and when it happened.

Based on the above explanation, it can be concluded that a technique as an application is a special way of teaching and. Additionally, Brown noted that brainstorming is a useful writing technique that allows students to approach a topic with an open mind without judging ideas. Furthermore, Lang and Evans say that brainstorming as a fun, useful and creative thinking technique can be used to start solving problems.

Based on the above quotes, the researcher can infer that brainstorming is a useful technique in the prewriting process which is used to generate as many as ideas about the topic through an open mind without judging the ideas. From the above quotes, it can be inferred that in addition to brainstorming having advantages, it also has disadvantages. Brainstorming is one of the useful techniques whether you have too few ideas or too many thoughts.

It can help you if you don't know how to organize your thoughts, or if you don't even have any thoughts. Based on the quotes above, it can be briefly explained that the use of brainstorming technique will help and enable the students to develop many ideas that come to their mind.

Meanwhile, the population of this research is the tenth grade students of Senior High School 1 Punggur. The sample of this research is class X4 of the tenth grades of SMA N 1 Punggur Central Lampung. The researcher uses the various ways to measure the influence of brainstorming technique by making recount text.

Based on the above explanation, the researcher would use the brainstorming technique to conduct the treatment for the tenth grade students of Punggur Senior Secondary School 1. The researcher uses pre-test and post-test as a data collection method to measure students' writing skills. It will be conducted to measure students' narrative text writing performance before using brainstorming technique in the writing process, especially in the experimental group, or to know students' narrative text writing ability.

The researcher would give the post-test after the treatments to know if the treatments have any significant impact on the writing performance of the retelling text or to find out if the post-test scores of the experimental group after getting treatments are higher than the pre-test scores control group without treatment. In other words, the researcher collects data and information pertaining to the variables through written sources to obtain valid data. In this study, the researcher would also use this method to obtain valid data and detailed information about the school's history, profile, total number of students and teachers of the school, official employees of the school, and both variables; the application of brainstorming techniques and the writing of recount texts by students.

The researcher conducted a pre-test before the students learned about retelling texts and before using the brainstorming technique, and a post-test after using the brainstorming technique. Then the researcher would find out if the result of the experimental group's score is higher than the control group's score. Based on the table above, it can be seen that there are some indicators for both variable X (brainstorming technique) and Y (the writing skills of the students).

The instrument will be used in documentation method to collect data and more information such as the placement map of Senior High School 1 Punggur, learning English process, of the students. Moreover, the researcher used the standard of test instrument in one kind of test. The test uses brainstorming about the topics and follows its procedures. So the researcher measured it using content validity in order for the outcome data and instruments to be valid and trusted.

Based on the analysis and results of the research, the researcher can conclude that there is a significant impact of using brainstorming technique on students' performance in writing narrative text at SMA N 1 Punggur Central Lampung.
