The purpose of this research is to investigate how students' perception of using digital conference application as an English online learning medium at IAIN Metro. The results of this research are: 1) The role of the conference application as an English online learning medium is: first, to facilitate the learning process carried out during learning, so that learning becomes easier.

THEORITICAL REVIEW

Concept of Students‘ Perception

Student perception is the process of a student's processing of information about the subject they are studying. As explained above, student perception is the process of student's consideration of information about the subject being studied, then student perception of using digital conference application as an English online learning medium at IAIN Metro is the students' evaluation or view regarding the use of zoom and google meet.

Concept of Learning Media

Based on Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia (KBBI), learning media are tools and materials used in the teaching or learning process. Based on some of these opinions, we can conclude that learning media are all things that can be used and can support teaching and learning activities so that they can achieve the goals of learning.

Concept of Digital Conference Application

From some of the definitions above, we can conclude that Google Meet is an application developed by Google that provides two-way or video-based communication. 35 Aswir, Muhammad Sofian Hadi, Fatimah Rosiana Dewi, ―The Google Meet application as an online learning media for descriptive text material‖; Jurnal Study Guru and Pembelanja, Vol.

Data Sources

According to the description above, the main topic of this research is how students perceive the use of a digital conference application as an English online learning medium. The main problem of this research is the advantages and disadvantages of the digital conference application as an online learning medium.

Technique of Data Collections

Google Meet is an easy and practical platform to access compared to other video conferencing platforms. Google Meet has features that are easy to understand how to use, making it easier for students in the online learning process. Google Meet is not as full-featured as other video conferencing platforms.

The capacity of people who can participate in Google Meet is quite limited, so it cannot be used in large events such as webinars and workshops. When the learning process takes place several times, there are delays, so that misunderstandings can arise between teachers and students in the learning process. What is the problem for students when using conferencing applications as an online learning medium.

What are the advantages of applying digital conferencing as an online learning media over other learning media. And what are the disadvantages of applying digital conferencing as an online learning media from other learning media. Between Zoom and Google Meet as a digital conferencing app, which one do you like better?

Data Analysis Technique

Documentation in this research is a form of activity or systematic process of searching, examining, compiling and providing documents to obtain knowledge, information and evidence in this research. In this study, data was collected from questionnaires conducted via Google Form, interviews conducted via WhatsApp, and documentation. The data that has been reduced would thus provide a clearer picture and make it easier for researchers to carry out further data collection and search for them if necessary.42.

In general, a display is an organized and dense collection of information that allows for reflection and analytical action.43 The process of displaying data helps researchers organize information and also see in a possible way and then they identify relationships which then develop explanations that link the findings to existing theories. By displaying the data, the future researcher can draw conclusions or verify all the questions in this study. The conclusion in this research is the explanation of the data that has been processed from the questionnaire, interviews and documentation.

The initial conclusions presented are still provisional and will change unless there is strong evidence to support the next phase of data collection. Findings can be in the form of a description or description of an object that was previously still obscure or even obscure, so that after research it becomes clear. In the method of scientific discovery, there are almost no guidelines so there is no right or wrong way to develop ideas or conclusions. 45.

RESULT AND DISCUSSION

Result of the Research

In my opinion, using the application as an English online learning media is to make it easier for us as students to interact directly, conduct questions and answers, discuss and make presentations about learning problems. Regarding the use of the digital conference application as an English online learning media at IAIN Metro, the following is to help and connect through video conferencing between students and lecturers. Google meet is a key role to communicate the distance between students and lecturer as an online learning media.

The problem faced by students in using conference application as an online learning medium is for me, the first is about the internet...". From the above statement, it can be concluded that the problem faced by students in using conference application as an English online learning medium at IAIN Metro is. There are different answers from advantages and disadvantages of conference application as an English online learning medium. a) Advantages of conference application as an English online learning medium.

From the above statement, the dominant answer is agree with as many as 8 students (53.3%), strongly agree with a percentage of 33.3% or 5 students and a neutral answer with 2 students or 13.3%. Based on the above two statements, Zoom and Google Meet have advantages that facilitate the online learning process. We can conclude that the advantages of the conference application as a medium for online English learning at IAIN Metro are as follows.

Discussion

Answer: ―I prefer Google meet as a digital conferencing application because the features are easier to use than meeting.‖. Answer: ―The obstacle encountered using the zoom or google meet application is a bad signal. Answer: ―Because by using the zoom or google meet application we can more easily understand the material explained by the lecturer.‖.

Answer: ―The disadvantage of using zoom or google meet is that you have to have a good signal. Answer: ―The problem that students face when using a conferencing application as an online learning medium is, for me, the first one related to the Internet. Answer: ―The disadvantage of using a digital conferencing application is that it consumes too much Internet quota.

Answer: ―I think the disadvantages, as not all the students can enjoy this online learning media. Answer: "I prefer google meet because it is a lecturer in calls and more effective in online learning." Answer: ―I choose zoom or google meet as a learning media because the application is easily excited and learns quickly.

CONCLUSION

Conclusion

The role of conference applications as an English learning medium includes facilitating online-based learning activities, making the learning process easier, and becoming a tool or medium that supports learning activities during the pandemic. The problems of the students are in terms of quotas, internet network and also how to operate the conference application. From the conclusion above, the solution can be related to the signal that students should pay attention to the quota and the signal before they start learning.

Students can look for a stable signal spot so that learning is not disrupted, and it is also advisable to choose a provider with a good signal in their area. Every problem faced can be solved with solutions from lecturers and students so that learning can be carried out. The pros and cons of this conference app are the basis of using this app itself.

The benefits of this application can help and facilitate the operation and help to optimize the learning process. While the disadvantages of this application conference are related to quota and internet network issues. For the difficulty of operating this conference app, it would be better if you first find out the function of each feature and also get used to using it.

Suggestion

Answer : ―Usually zoom and google meet are used when material needs to be presented. Answer : ―The benefits of using the zoom or google meet application, we can more easily communicate directly with the teacher regarding the material that is not understood.‖. Answer : ―Google meet is an important means of communicating the distance between students and teachers as an online learning medium.‖.

Answer: ―Signal and quota are hindrance in online study using google meet apps.‖. Answer: ―The interesting feature of Google meeting is that the image of socialism is clear and has a long duration for free.‖. Answer: ―Because I know zoom or google meet is the easiest app to use than another app.‖.

Answer : ―Between zoom and google meet I prefer google meet because google meet has a lower memory capacity than zoom. Answer : ―Between zoom and google meet I prefer google meet because the features are easy to understand and the application is simpler.‖. Answer : ―Constraces that generally contradict using zoom or google measure are signal constaint.‖.

Jawab: “Jadi aplikasi zoom atau google meet mudah diakses, apalagi sekarang semua handphone sudah Android.
