INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM FOR ISLAMIC ECONOMICS AND FINANCE (IPIEF)

FACULTY ECONOMIC AND BUSINESS UNIVERSITAS MUHAMMADIYAH YOGYAKARTA

Name of Course : Research Methodology Credit Value : 3 (three)

Semester : 5 (five)

Instructor : Dr. Diah Setyawati Dewanti, S.E., M.Si

COURSE SYNOPSIS

The research methodology is an obligatory subject for the Economics department. The subject consists of a description for the steps of the research process and integrated into Islam value.

Therefore, the undergraduate students able to develop research which high quality to be published and compliance requirements as academic research.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

To introduce to the undergraduate students concerning academic research and the steps of making proposal and undergraduate thesis or full report. In each step, will define it more specifics, the students could comprehend and able to compile each sub-chapter to be a feasible research proposal, especially when it has to publish as academic output. Integration of Islam values is expected the students could steep the importance of research methodology in every life aspects including the religious.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

1) Knowledge and Understanding

a) To understand and grasp concerning academic research concept

b) To understand and grasp the role of theory and hypothesis, including the function of each of them.

c) To understand and grasp about research ethics and implemented the Islam ethics in applying the research methods

d) To understand and grasp every model of data collecting and sampling

e) To understand and grasp how to arrange good, attractive, and worthy research to be published

2) Intelectual Skill

a) The students able to choose the topic and formulate the problem from facts one empirical evidence to be research.

b) The students able to analyze every problem appear and interpretant the result of the research which could be accepted by the reader

3) Practical Skill

a) To have experiences collect many of research data in many sources, through government and private institutions from the internet as the source.

b) To have experiences to develop a research proposal which could be used to be the undergraduate thesis or even to support the competition on academic research.

c) To have to improve on English skill through reading the journals or accessing the international publication website as the sources.

4) Managerial Skill and Attitude

a) To have experienced as in a working team

b) To improve the experiences on leading the discussion, making a presentation, and express the opinion.

c) To achieve improving the ability to do research by integrated the Islam values in each phase

ASSESSMENT METHODS Success indicator is:

1. Percentage of students who received A and B is more than 50%

2. Percentage of students who received D is less than 10%

3. Mean of attendance of students is more than 75%
